Excellent bread pan, easy to slice loaves

I have a bread machine, but I find the loaves it baked end up oddly shaped and a bit difficult to slice, so I decided to try this pan and I’m so pleased with the results!Update: I watched a bread episode of the Great British Baking Show & learned to be really patient while making bread. I now still do most of the work with my bread machine, but now I put the dough in this bread box to rise an additional 30-60 minutes before baking. I think 1lb of dough could be fine using this method. Still love this pan & have made loaves weekly since purchasing._______________________I’ve made 3 loaves of bread so far: 2 were herbs & cheese and the other was pesto bread.PanI opted for the gold pan since it’s heavier than the black pan. Also, some reviews of the black pan stated that the coating flaked off, and while I don’t know how common that is, it’s not something I want to deal with. The gold is more of a rose gold color. There’s holes in the bottom of the pan, but I didn’t have any issues with that. If I were to bake something other than bread in it, I’d probably line it with parchment paper or foil to avoid drips. The pan looks a bit small, but I think it’s a great size since you can fit 2lbs of dough into it!LidThe lid is one of the reasons I got this pan. I love being able to bake a very uniform loaf of bread and the lid makes that possible. It slides on easily and stayed in place while baking. It was easy to remove as well.Loaf SizeI thought I’d read that the pan baked 1lb of dough so that’s what I started with and while it baked up fine, it only filled the pan about 60%. I then made a 1.5lb and a 2lb loaf which both worked, but 2lbs of dough will really fill the pan nicely. One of my photos shows the 1.5lb loaf (pesto bread) next to the 2lb loaf (herbs & cheese) and you can see the 2lb loaf really filled the pan while the 1.5lb loaf has more rounded corners.BakingI baked my loaves at 350 for 35-45 minutes, depending on loaf size.StorageI have a metal bread box, but I also purchased a LOCK & LOCK HPL849 bread storage container for this, which you can see in one of my photos. It’s not quite large enough to fit 2 full loaves, but it will fit at least 1.5 loaves. That bread container fits inside my bread box so I have double storage.Slicing BreadThe 2lb loaf was the easiest to slice since it was denser, but the 3 loaves I’ve made so far all sliced nicely. I was able to easily hand slice the bread into very thin slices, so that was pretty amazing. I’m considering getting a slicing guide so I can cut more consistently sized slices.ConclusionThis pan is amazing. I’ve never been much of a bread maker, but with this pan, I plan on making loaves for us regularly since it’s so easy and I love the results. I’m so pleased with this pan and I recommend it for anyone wanting to make a nice, uniform loaf of bread that’s easy to slice.

It does the job but manage your expectations (from any pan)

The pan does a great job overall. I cannot expect more from a pan of this type and here is why.I ruined the antistick coating after the first use, due to the fact that the bread got stuck on the upper perimeter of the pan and the only way to make it loose was to use a knife, which ruined in some spots the coating. Indeed, the bread grew too much and spilled from the top and the bottom. Even if I spreaded oil inside the pan it got stuck there.After the first use, I learned to cut a sheet of baking paper so that it fits inside the pan. I also punch the holes through the ones already in the pan. To avoid the paper from sticking to the bread in some spots, I spread the paper with peanut oil (220/230C smoke point). Like this, the paper releases very easily everywhere.Besides the accidental damage I made, antistick coatings weather by simple use, doesn't matter which specific pan you buy. The base material of the pan seems robust, durable and well designed and that's what matters to me.Tip if you have a similar oven to mine.For my small electric oven, I bake 20min at 220C to make it rise, 10min at 190C, then I flip the pan upside down and bake 30min at 190C. The reason is that the heating element of my oven is closer to the top side. Even like this the bread is not perfectly dry inside.I slice it, freeze it and toast it every time I need bread, so that's good enough for me.If you have similar issues and you really want to make it dry inside try to lower the temperature from 190C and prolong the time.

Sturdy, looks good, works as intended!

I bought a wire rack from them previously and thought it was built well and of good quality so I decided to try this loaf pan from them and can say they make good products!The pan is made of a pretty thick metal, thick enough that you can't bend any parts of it. I've used it twice and so far it doesn't warp so it's looking good. They say it's made of carbon steel (which I can't verify for you) but it's definitely better than the aluminum one that's the best seller. Personally I think the thicker steel creates a nicer caramelized crust on my breads. There's also a pretty slick nonstick coating on it which is super easy to clean and bread dough and baked bread releases from it easily.I read reviews where they mention the lid sliding would chip off the coating but I don't think that can happen. The lid slides on a rail but it's semi loose so it has room to slide, there's no friction.

Perfect loaf pan

Got this to make Japanese milk bread with a rectangular shape, and it was perfect. It is roughly the size of a 1kin Japanese loaf pan so you can follow those recipes and have it come out pretty good. The best thing is the even cooking. I was concerned that the top won't cook at the same rate and will be more/less browned but it's actually perfect.The pan is quite non-stick so the bread comes out very easily. The lid is a bit too slippery so be careful about that. Cleanup is very easy, just washed with warm water and soap. Thinking of getting another one to make two loaves at a time!

Works great

I ordered this pan to make Japanese milk bread (shakupan). The pan is light, but sturdy, and well made. The Pullman style lid slides on and off with little effort but also no wiggle or play. I hade planned to make a flat topped loaf using the lid, but I let my first loaf rise a little too much so I opted for a round top loaf. The bread browned nicely and released with no problem from the pan.
