Good quality, great range even through several exterior walls.

I have a pellet grill that I use this one and it works great. I have the grill outside of my garage, probably 40' with a couple of walls between where I use the grill and my kitchen. I've never had any problem with the portable read-out. This helped me figure out that my grill runs about 30-40 degrees F on the cool side. I thought that was the case, but this proves it and lets me adjust as needed now. Very happy with my purchase.

Quality product with impressive range.

I use this to keep track of several different items in a smoker. I've tried Weber and BBQ-Guru units in the past and they're just expensive frustrating junk. The Weber uses a coin cell which can barely last the length of one smoking (the BBQ-guru plugs into AC) and both suffer from the annoyingly short range of Bluetooth transmission to a phone. It ties up the phone and wont' work more than about ten feet away. This ChefsTemp unit is what I was looking for all along, and I wish I'd run into it sooner. It has its own receiver which does not need a phone and works at ridiculously long range from the smoker. The transmit units has four probes and runs on either batteries or a USB supply (not included but if you're like me you have a half dozen lying around). The receiver and transmitter constantly show all four temperatures simultaneously--no annoying flipping from one to the other. And you can set alerts for not only high (done) temp, but also low temp, in case the fire or power goes out.I chalk up the money I wasted on other units as an education expense, and I'm very happy with this unit. Both devices simply feel solid and well built. It is not cheap, but worth every penny, a pleasure to use, and probably the last one I'll ever need. Buy once, cry once. 🙂

Beware of lose probes *****update*** awesome product!!!!!

Got this for using to cook with for Thanksgiving dinner. Item arrived in time. The unit itself looks good and seams to be made well. However during assembly and testing the probes did not fit well in the unit and could not get any readings unless you messed with them. Very lose fitting and hardly any contact.. Contacted support and a new unit is being sent out and hope the replacement works like it supposed to.However I will now have to find another way to monitor my food for Thanksgiving dinner as the replacement won't arrive in time. Will update if the new unit works as it should.***************************(Update)Received the new product and works as it should. Awesome customer support. Company reached out to me and I was very impressed with the care that they have to the customer and how they back thier product. They definitely will take care of thier customers..

Way better than the stock probe on my pellet grill

I bought this after turning a bunch of expensive beef ribs into beef jerky and finding out my pellet grill thermometer and prove we’re off by 15-35 degrees. The quality wifi options seem to expensive and I don’t leave the house much when smoking anyways so this one is perfect. The magnet, lanyard and stand on the back of the remote display are excellent for placing wherever I am in or around my house while cooking. The temperature is accurate and having 3 probes and an ambient sensor allows for a variety of monitoring locations on large cuts. I’ve made 2 racks of wagyu beef plate ribs that came out perfect, after 14 and 18 hour cooks, chicken and beef short ribs. This is the thermometer to buy, If I was starting over I’d have just gotten this and a non-Wi-Fi smoker

Disappointed

I bought this to monitor ambient temps in my offset smoker. I have at least 4 and possibly 5 disappointments:1. To measure ambient temperature, it is necessary to hold the measuring probe just above grate level. This is accomplished through little spring clips that probably cost $0.01 each. Even though the unit includes four probes, only two clips are included.2. The probes are not long enough to reach even the middle, let alone the far end of my smoker. I suspect that the probe length was specified, so if I had read the fine print I would have known. But I am still disappointed.3. The probes are not color coded, although really small colored bands are included. I didn't use them as they will be too hard to see.4. Another that was my fault for not reading the fine print (and for making the assumption that at this price point the product would include a basic feature commonly found on such devices: It lacks an app interface that could have provided graphs on temperature history. For my purpose, being able to see the temp changes over the duration of my cook is much more valuable than getting a series of real time readings.5. Perhaps most importantly -- accuracy. I have not yet tested the accuracy thoroughly, but am suspicious, based on the data reported curing my first use, that the probes are not accurate relative to each other. The temperature range I measured between the 4 probes (all inside my cooking chamber, and none even close to the fire box, was about 50 degrees, and all consistently read 25 to 50 degrees higher than the mechanical gauge (a highly regarded brand). So, I gave this a 2, but only because a few of my disappointments were my mistake for not more carefully reading the product specs (and lack thereof). Otherwise, it would have been a 1.
