A Sweet Little Helper in the Kitchen
Well, well, well, who would have thought a small device could be so helpful? I'm talking about this little Cherry Pitter Tool. It's kinda like having an extra hand in the kitchen, especially when cherry season rolls around and my backyard trees are heavy with fruit.I'm one of those folks who loves to make everything from scratch, and this tool is a gem when it comes to whipping up my favorite homemade cherry pie. It's just like grandma used to make, but without the hours spent on pitting cherries. Plus, with two little rascals running around and another on the way, anything that can save me time is a lifesaver.Using it is as easy as pie too! You just pop the cherry in and squeeze. Even my boys can lend a helping hand. I think it's pretty safe for kids to use, with no sharp edges or anything. It's sturdy, looks like it'll last a good while. I will suggest putting paper towels down as you work, it does get a bit messy.Now, if you're someone who prefers a tidy kitchen like me, this little gadget is a dream. Fun little gadget! Works easily and very well.I did have to really squeeze for a couple of the pits, the rest went willingly. Not sure why that is - I'm blaming the pit. I didn't look up any info on best spot to push the metal post through. I just put the stem end up and pushed.No problems like I read in other reviews - the metal post goes straight through the center of the hole with no hangup.Something I didn't anticipate - after pitting a cherry, the plastic 'sticky-outy thing' at the back of the pitter has to be pressed in to release metal post back to the starting position. Otherwise it stays locked in the down position. Not sure why it's constructed that way. But just a quick tap of the back side of the pitter on the counter does the trick.I tested on a half dozen or so cherries. Posted a picture because - alert - it's a little splashy as the pit flies through the hole. Sometimes it leaves a full hole in the bottom, sometimes just a cross hatch split. Can't show you all that because I immediately ate the pitted cherries!I can see this saving a lot of time for large numbers of cherries. Personally I usually grab a couple handfuls at a time to eat, and spit out the pits as I do. Not a 'splashy' mess like the pitter, but still about the same amount of cleanup.*Suggestion* - might want to use a straw cleaning brush to clean out the metal tube. I'm sure it's collecting cherry stuff as it's used.Great little tool for a great price.

Makes a previously daunting task easy
Actually extremely useful. I usually try not to buy single job gadgets but we love cherries and use them in several ways. I was getting annoyed with digging the pits out with a knife. This is so much easier and it's awesome that you can do so many cherries at once. Really quick to get a whole lot of cherries pitted. You also dont have to empty out the pits unless you're doing like pounds of fruit. Threw it in the dishwasher and it cleaned up great! No complaints.

awesome piece to have in the kitchen for cherry season. I've used it 5 times now, pitting about 1 lb or so of cherries each time and it works very well! it leaves the pits dangling on the bottom of tray on most occasions, though. id recommend using gloves if youre doing a lot of cherries at a time unless you dont mind the red stained fingers. for the price the quality is good in my opinion. I would recommend for sure.

Easy to use!
This cherry pitter works well and is easy to clean. In our house, we mostly each cherries whole and spit the seeds out; however, this tool comes in handy if you have toddlers or want cherries for a salad or pie.
