I do the cooking in the house (well, the vast majority of it, anyways), and since chicken is the one protein my wife will always eat, I make a fair bit of it. The problem is, dicing the chicken breasts gives me a lot of hand pain (I am developing arthritis) if I am doing too much of it. Enter this awesome little unit. Instead of dicing the chicken into tiny pieces the way my wife likes (less than 1"x1"), all I have to do is cut it into chunks and this shredder does the rest.There are several versions of this product out there and they are all going to try to convince you to buy with different add-ons. The basic unit is going to be pretty much the same no matter which one you buy. A bottom tray with rubber grips, and teeth pointing upwards, and a rotating top with teeth pointing downwards. By placing your chicken into the lower tray, then adding your top tray and rotating it, you get perfect shredded chicken every time.The plastic material is lightweight, durable and easy to use and clean. As with any kitchen gadget, the value is in how you use it, and mine gets used quite a bit, giving it a great value and utility.

Shredder works well. Tried chicken and egg and both were reduced to smaller pieces. I had to move a few pieces away from sides and more to middle but much better than chopping with a knife. I also put a piece of chicken straight from oven in shredder and had no problem. Does move a little on counter, just need to move closer to you so you can add weight pushing down.
