Sharp, Safe, and Scout-Approved
I ordered this set for our scout troop, and it’s already a major upgrade from what we were using before. We camp almost every month, and cooking is a big part of our outings—with the kids, mostly middle schoolers and up, doing the majority of the food prep. The knives we had were so dull, I was honestly more worried about someone getting hurt from them slipping than anything else. That’s why I decided it was time to replace them, and I’m really glad I picked these. Before handing them over to the troop, I tested them out in my own kitchen, and they are impressively sharp. They slice cleanly and easily, making prep work smoother and much safer for the kids. I appreciate that they’re lightweight and have a good grip, which should help the scouts handle them more confidently. The bright color also makes them easy to spot in our gear boxes, which is a small but helpful detail.Cleaning them has been no issue either. I always hand wash my knives, and these come out spotless and dry nicely without any rust or discoloration. I haven't run them through a dishwasher and don’t plan to—better safe than sorry. We’re all really happy with the quality so far, and I can’t wait to see them put to use on our next trip.

A QUALITY Knife set!
This knife set is a perfect addition to one's culinary supply. It is a very attractive set and each knife is very sharp. I will say that I have paid more for knives that were not as sharp as these. I love the feel in the hand, and they are nicely balanced within parameters that one would hope for.On another level I love the unique sharpening setting, which is sharpened to an 15-17-degree pitch. In the US we tend to sharpen to a 20-degree edge. This does have good points as it does tend to be a bit more well-rounded , and can stand up just a bit better to a wide variety of tasks. I confess that once I had experienced a 15-degree sharpening angle, which is more commonly the Japanese preferred angle, I felt that it made a measurable difference in my cutting. I once met a Japanese cook years ago who told me that with all of the fancy knifework certain Japanese chefs tend to do, all are sharpened to a 15-degree pitch. From that time on I was intrigued. Some years later in a class, I learned more about the idea of the 15-degree angle being the ideal edge for those who desire a precise and elite deftness of touch in their cutting. At this point, I do need to hastily confess that I am not in that range of expertise by any stretch of the imagination, mine or others! With that bit of clarity confessed, I am still fascinated by many of the intricate cuts that chefs with professional knife skills do.The 15-degree angle is definitely a bit sharper and is intended to allow for more intricate cuts, particularly stylistic expression cuts for which certain chefs are known. (Not talking about TV chefs here) Chinese cleavers for example tend to be sharpened to a 25-degree pitch since it is a heavy-duty work horse type edge. A 15-17 degree tends to be a practical edge that is sharp enough to allow for many of the more daring and precise cuts that are considered highly desirable among elite chefs, which again, I am not, though I am still quite fascinated by the discussion. These knives are sharpened to that highly desired edge, which allows for an easier cut. These knives feel great in the hand, and I also love the fact that the handle is not wood. On my chef knives that are wooden-handled, I tend to feel that a bit more hand care is required, as I tend to always want to minimize the degree of moisture exposure to the handle, fearing for the potential impact of the moisture on the knife handle. I am one who loves the type of handle that I can ignore moisture on, and further, despite the fact that these handles are smooth to the touch, they are not at all slippery. The quality of these knives is also clearly revealed by the fact that they are full tang, meaning that they are stronger in that the blade extends up through the entire handle. All quality knives share that important feature.I would definitely recommend this set of knives, as they are well-built, feel good in the hand, are slip resistant and have that nice 15-degree edge that makes it even easier to safely cut food items.

nice looking
This is a nice colorful looking knife set. The set consists of an 4 inch paring knife, 8 inch chef knife, and 9 inch bread knife. The handle is smooth, but one can feel confident holding it. The knives are not heavy and not too light, feeling good in the hand. However, I would prefer slightly larger handles for a better grip. The stainless steel blades are polished well. The paring knife was not as sharp as the chef knife. They recommend that you hold the knife with index finger and thumb holding the top of the blade and other fingers gripping the handle. This gives you better control of the knife.

Really high quality, strength, sharpness and durability for the price
These are razor sharp, have enough Carbon to sharpen, extremely hefty and well made. Nothing flimsy about them. Steel is outstanding and even chopping doesn't faze it. Beautiful, functional and a great buy for the high quality. This is my rating scale for price/value:1 Star: Seriously damaged, not functional, failed, poorly made, not worth the price at all.2 Stars: Not broken but frail, far below quality at this price, or not as advertised but functional.3 Stars: Not a bad product, but there are far better products on Amazon at a far lower price.4 Stars: Not unhappy I ordered but one major flaw would keep me from ordering again.5 Stars: Outstanding quality and price, a great value and excellent performance.

Sharp Knives - Be Careful!
I have been using these knives for a few months and I have not needed to sharpen them yet. Potatoes do stick to the blade when I cut them so I have to manually move them off the blade. I did accidentally cut myself with the serrated knife and had to get 5 stitches, so be careful! haha
