I knew I had to have these ceramic egg cups from the moment they popped up on my screen. The shape, the colors -- everything spoke to me and said: "Buy me." LOL , so I did!And I'm so glad I did. The Easter egg/macaroon colors are so festive and cheerful! Makes, me look forward to waking up in the morning. Same way as back in the day, when I looked forward to that first drag of a Marlboro Red and piping hot black coffee tempered with rich half n half and a fresh glazed donut to dip. Breakfast of Champions. Nicotine and caffeine with a side of sugar... make mine an espresso to really kick myself into gear.Ahhh...these days it's my Lady Earl Grey and free range farm fresh in these absolutely adorable candy coated color egg cups. An evolution in easing into my day with a touch of refinement and grace. ( smiley smirk inserted here ) All joking aside, I really do love these. There is something to be had in the psychology of color to lift the spirits and even boost the enjoyment and appeal of your meal. These little beauties take me back to another time, childhood trips to southern Germany with my grandmother. All the homey bed and breakfasts with crisp white table clothes serving a continental breakfast had them. Everyone back in the day in Europe did. Is there any other civilized way to serve a soft boiled egg? While enjoying the simple elegance of a well designed product, I think I've upped the traditional by forgoing the ubiquitous ivory glaze for my cornucopia of color! The classic, elevated, single egg cup shape is well established perfection. It's form wed to function. No fighting to peel my egg, no chasing my breakfast as it rolls away, and around my plate. No cluttered table. Just my egg cup and spoon. ( and a side of toast and jam.) A few tap taps of my spoon to the top of my egg shell and breakfast is served. Neat, no fuss and easy clean up. And these guys are dishwasher safe too. The perfect size to hold one medium to (x)large egg. The ceramic is just the right weight for balance and stability, with no defect in presentation, all arrived safely, all six intact.Beyond the breakfast table, I find these cute enough to be display worthy. Lined up on an exposed cabinet, shelf, or even window sill, they add a touch of happy color and charm. I use one as a handy catchall for my rings when I wash dishes. I've also made use of these little cups on my sunny window were small cuttings thrive. All in all, this little impulse purchase, has been one of the most reached for, and favorite buys.I'm satisfied with the cost to utility ratio, and would definitely recommend these, and have given this set as gifts. I read in another review, someone put them to use as shot glasses. Why the heck not?Works for me.
These are so cute! Definitely had to order since we love eating soft boiled eggs in our home. The colors are right on cue with Easter and spring palettes. These egg cups are a little more fragile than expected. They came in a divided container and one of my cups came chipped. These definitely need to be hand-washed and after a couple months, there's been no issue with color fading or appearance. Our eggs have also fit without problem and my son enjoys using the provided spoon.Minus one star because they are very impractical to store. They dont fit stack and need to be laid out individually - which takes up valuable shelf space. Also because this doesnt encourage communal eating. With only spoon, there is a lot of waiting when there's multiple people eating. It would make more sense to have at least 2 spoons.
Since she started eating solid food, my 10-year-old daughter's favorite way to eat eggs is soft-boiled so she can dip her breakfast meats and toast into the runny yolk! This set of 6 egg cups and 1 spoon is a PERFECT gift for her! I love the pastel colors and the set includes her 3 favorite colors (purple, pink, and yellow), so she can happily choose a color-combination that suits her mood every morning!
These pastel egg cups are super cute and functional, and the set of six gives you plenty of color variety for a cheerful breakfast table. They feel sturdy and well made, and they hold soft boiled eggs securely without wobbling. The tiny spoon that comes with them is an especially charming touch, with an engraved hatching chick that adds a bit of delight every time you use it. Overall, this set is both practical and adorable, making it an easy five-star pick for anyone who enjoys a fun and well coordinated kitchen accessory.
These are my first set of egg cups oddly enough. I've spent the first 55 years of my life going all willy-nilly with my eggs, letting them roll around the plate or oversized bowl - I feel like an uncultured swine now. But the pretty colors and my home's lack of egg cups drew me in.Now considering I've never used eggs cups, and I could be speaking from in-egg-sperience here, but I feel these might be too small for larger sized eggs. I only had large and extra large eggs on hand so I took a quick pic to show the difference - (the XL is in the pink cup and the large in the orange). From what I can tell, the large fit but just barely....the XL (on the left) was just too much egg for the cup to handle....I can't imagine trying to balance a jumbo egg in it but I could be wrong..at this point, my store doesn't even carry jumbo eggs so that's a moot point.I would think a medium would fit perfectly and not get stuck but I had no medium eggs around to test this theory and I only buy medium eggs when everything else is sold out.Looking at these, I also feel drawn to using them as shot glasses...and I may just do that too....they are too cute to save them just for breakfast/egg time and I don't see any reason why not.I would have loved if this set came with 6 spoons so each person could have one but that's not even an issue....just a curiosity....after all, I've never had egg cups before and don't know what the etiquette on service in these would be.....but my other half and I don't mind sharingMy take-away, I'd probably buy a second set for a gift for my daughter since I know she'd love a set too.
