Waterproof but it is thin and has strong smell
If you need something to protect your table with liquids this cover will do it, and will make cleaning spills very easy.The piece I got the 55x86 size and it fit well on my table for 6, the measurements were pretty close and it is very transparent and also didn't have any stains or visual defects.It has a strong vinyl smell, but based on my experience it will fade with time.My only negative point goes to the thickness, it feels very thin, compared to others that I had in the past, but I will be able to tell the durability with my nieces coming to visit me, my first impression is that if you have something with corners over it, it will easily poke a hole if you are not careful when moving it over the plastic.

Protective option
I got this tablecloth cover because I noticed a cotton tablecloth had somehow gotten damaged with daily use.When I got it, I partially unfolded it and let it drape over a chair for a week to try to relax some of the wrinkles. It is approximately the same thickness and weight of a shower curtain liner (and smells exactly the same).The size I ordered was sufficient to fit my table with some drape on each side. Many of the wrinkles relaxed out; using it on a busily-patterned table cloth helps to make any remaining wrinkles less noticeable. Much of the smell dissipated as well.It seems to be working well in protecting the table and the tablecloth underneath.

Crystal clear protector
I use these clear plastic tablecloth protectors every day in my household. I bought a gorgeous fine wood dining table a few years after my kids moved out because I could finally have something nice. I was able to see and admire my table for 2 months until both kids announced that they were expecting at the same time. I had to surrender to the little food covered hands and cover my table with tablecloths, goodbye to the lovely place mats.I like using the clear protectors because I don't have to change and wash the fabric tablecloth after every meal but it can be difficult to find them at an affordable rate. When it's dirty, I just windex it but eventually they do get food handprints on the underside of the protector. Since these are affordable, I can discard them and use a fresh one. Mine does measure 55"x86" so it's a perfect size for my table.It's a very good thickness so it doesn't slide around too much. And it's crystal clear so at least I can visit my cloth tablecloth underneath. At some point, as the babies get older, I might be able to use these alone and see the wood underneath the clear protector. I'm very happy with this tablecloth protector.

Saves a lot of laundry
I bought this table cover mainly to protect my wood table, which has started to lose its clear coat lacquer over time.
