I love the clear style on my counter

I keep a silicone mat on my counter where my cutting board sits to help keep from staining or scratching the surface, which is especially important to me since I live in a rented home. I hade a different one that was accidentally cut, so I moved that one to be used for camping. This one is much sturdier, hence I believe the slightly higher budget range than others I have had. It's also sturdier. It sticks to the granite counter well and is easy to clean, especially since it's right next to the sink. It's smoother than my other one and it's so much easier to wipe off. I always use these under my hot plate burners for when I need more burners than my stove has, especially at the holidays. They are great for heat resistance and protection. I like that it is clear, also. I barely even notice it. Overall, I am thrilled with this mat and would definitely recommend it!

Curls up and falls off the countertop

This while providing a nice silicone surface to set your hot pan or prepare meals on is great, but it does not lay flat at all. After letting it sit under cast-iron pan in the camper for a week, the edges still curl up and it will roll off the counter in a few hours.I have tried it right side up and upside down to get it to lay flat and it will not do it. It’s a neat idea, but unless you keep something on it all the time you were going to be chasing this around.

Very Thin Protective Mat: Side A - Hard & Slippery; Side B - Soft and Tacky

This mat is advertised as being silicon, but is crystal clear and feels nothing like my silicon baking mats, which are flexible and made from silicon rubber impregnated cloth. This mat is extremely thin: only 1 mm thick. to thin to be used as a cutting surface.It came rolled up, with one side covered in the film used to protect new LCD screens. With the film removed this side had a slightly tacky, rubbery feeling surface, which I assume is to be placed down to prevent sliding. The other side had a hard, shiny, slippery surface, As it is BPA free and Foodsafe, I can see it being used to roll and knead dough. Or maybe as a transparent table place mat. I thought it perfect to use in my shop to protect the bench from glue during assembly, from oils during sharpening or finishing.

This particular pad is not as thick as others I've had, but it IS thick enough to add some protection from scratches. Its sticky when you lay it out so it doesn't slip, but be sure to peel off the protective wrapping on BOTH sides of it before using it.
