Coffee mill produces a very consistent grind and a great tasting cup of coffee.

Great manual coffee mill. I use it to grind coffee beans for my Keurig coffee refillable coffee pod. I have tried several grind settings and have found grit settings of 45 and 50 for my dark to medium dark coffee beans (Kau Dark Roast, Kauai Peaberry Medium Dark, Peet’s Holiday Blend dark roast) produces a very good tasting cup of coffee.

Insane build quality, a beautiful precision-made machine (medium light roast espresso maybe?)

**Background:** I have become an espresso enthusiast in a short period of time. I have always sought good coffee using a French press, Aeropress, and Hario V60. However, my latest pursuit is medium-light roast espresso.I am looking for a portable grinder that can grind light to medium roasts so that I can achieve a consistent shot; this is not a pressurized basket or a 9-bar espresso machine. That’s why I ordered this grinder. The Cocinare is my seventh grinder and fourth portable grinder. By far, this is the best-built grinder I have used.**Build Quality:** The Cocinare is my seventh grinder and fourth portable grinder, and it is undoubtedly the best-built one. The machining and design are exceptionally impressive. It feels ultra-premium. I ordered the MiiR grinder, which was in the same price range, but it feels like a tin can compared to this. There are many great features. The handle (although the ball and diameter of the grinder are large and may pose an issue for smaller hands)–I wear large or XL gloves and liked the feel, but often things are undersized for my hands. I thought it was worth mentioning a potential ergonomic issue for small hands. The bearings make turning this grinder super smooth; the adjustment range is extensive, with a lot of precision and granularity—80 distinct settings. The grinds are very consistent and the best I have seen from a hand or portable grinder. I have tested and reviewed three other portable grinders in the over $100 range. For anything other than espresso, I think this grinder is perfect. However, for espresso, I still believe there is room for improvement. For reference, I am currently using a benchtop Shardor 64mm flat burr grinder for my espresso, which is my current gold standard. I can quickly dial in my espresso shot with beans ranging from medium to medium-light and consistently reproduce that as long as I don’t start messing around with a new tool or technique. This grinder is the closest I have gotten to dialing in with the Breville infuser and bottomless portafilter. I tried several baskets and puck screens. Too fast, too slow, channeling, choking—I managed to get a couple decent shots, but after over a dozen attempts, I decided to call it. I am not an expert, and perhaps someone with more experience or tools could dial this in with a light to medium-light roast in a non-pressurized basket, but my skills aren’t there, and I just need to be honest in my review. For your information, setting a grind size of 5 with 29.5 grams of medium-light roast beans took about two minutes of hand grinding. That said, I love this grinder and will use it for my Aeropress and pour-over. My wife is a French press user, and she has her own grinder.**Summary:****Positive:**- Insane build quality, material, and fit and finish best I have ever seen. Like a high-end offshore fishing reel.- Super smooth cranking action- Lots of grind range and precision adjustability- Easy access to burrs for cleaning (one screw)- Great magnetic action on handle ball and catch basin.**Negative:**- Dialing in espresso beans is challenging and not consistent enough for me.- The size of the catch basin is a bit larger for a 54mm setup. It may fit a 58mm portafilter better. I have to use a larger funnel or cup my hands to avoid spilling over because of the diameter of the grind bin.-may not be for small hands (size of the ball on the handle and diameter of the shaft where you hold the grind is larger than most.Even though I did not find my holy grail for portable grinds, this is such a well-made precision grinder and a very fair price I have to give it 5 stars and maybe it my skills as this in the closest I have gotten to producing consistent shots.

A quality hand grinder capable of producing a fine espresso grind

Having just spent 2 weeks setting up a new coffee bar it was possible to compare this grinder to the other new one I had just dialed in for espresso shots. The other one was : > A power one with 64mm flat burrs and 100 settings. This one > “ Concinare ESSENCE GO” A manual crank with 29mm conical burrs and 80 settings. The 2 are not really comparable and I was interested to see if this one would produce a good espresso grind.Bottom line - The Concinare ESSENCE GO will produce a good espresso grind and shot.Using the exact same beans and procedure - 14 gram grind, transfer, WDT, level and tamp @ 30lb I set the Concinare ESSENCE GO on #15 setting and it produced a 15 sec pull, too short. Reducing the setting 10 provided a 25 sec pull and a great shot which is what I was looking for.Overall we are very happy with this grinder.Pros :> Comes in very nice quality and protective packaging.> Build quality is excellent, heavy powder coated steel> Easy to set up and use. The handle, and beautiful round, magnetically attached, genuine wood ball all combine to turn effortlessly.> Can produce a good fine grain for an excellent espresso shot.> Pretty fast grind - 100 turns produced a 14 gram, fine grain espresso shot.> Versatile - The magnetically attached grind cup is 56mm id and 65mm Od which with a little care can serve as a dosing cup. With a standard funnel on my portafilter I was able to place it on the cup, flip it over and with a light tap deposit all the coffee grinds in the portafilter eliminating the use of a traditional dosing cup.> Easy to clean - 1 screw in the bottom can be removed with a 2.5mm hex wrench and is all that is required to remove the lower burr for cleaning.Cons :> The numeric grind settings and suggested settings on the base of the handle are a mono color, not highlighted and difficult to read at least on the white model.
