Secure knock bar

We had a different knockbox, but when dumping it we did not see that the bar fell out. This one is larger and the bar is secured so that it will not fall into the trash.

I love a good knock box that integrates seamlessly into my workflow

I love a good knock box, and I’ve tried a lot of them over the years, stainless steel, plastic, wooden, silicone, small boxes, large café-style bins. Most do the job, but very few are genuinely pleasant to use every day. This one surprised me.The first thing I noticed is how ergonomic it is. The height and opening feel just right, it’s easy to knock out pucks cleanly without awkward angles or excessive force. The silicone-wrapped knock bar is noticeably quieter than metal bars and does a great job protecting the portafilter, and damping loud knocking sounds which makes a real difference for early mornings or shared spaces.Cleaning is simple. The design means allows for the bar to be fully detachable so you have no trapped grounds, and being dishwasher safe is also a big plus. The non-slip base keeps it stable on the counter, and despite being lightweight, it doesn’t slide around during use.For a home setup and workflow, the size is compact while still holding a reasonable amount of spent grounds before needing to be emptied. If I had to point out a downside, it’s that the advertised 1.5L capacity feels a bit optimistic in real-world use, though, especially if you’re pulling thicker pucks or using larger baskets. Also, because it’s ABS plastic, it doesn’t have the heavy, industrial feel of stainless steel knock boxes, which some people may prefer purely from an aesthetic or tactile standpoint. Neither of these are dealbreakers, just things to be aware of depending on your setup and expectations.Having said, this is one of the most comfortably designed knock boxes I’ve used. It’s quiet, easy to clean, gentle on equipment, and works exceptionally well for daily home espresso routines. It integrates perfectly into my workflow. A solid choice if you value usability and workflow over sheer heft.Disclosure: This review is part of Amazon’s Vine Program, which provides products at a reduced cost in exchange for honest reviews (taxed as income). makes making multiple espresso shots easier

This espresso knock box is designed to provide a dedicated place to dispose of used coffee grounds from portafilters during espresso preparation. With a 1.5-liter capacity, it offers enough volume to handle multiple shots before needing to be emptied, making it suitable for home baristas as well as small café or coffee cart use.One of the key features is the quiet silicone bar that runs across the top of the box. When knocking out spent coffee pucks, this silicone bar helps reduce noise compared with harder knock surfaces. It’s also gentle on portafilters, which can prolong the life of the equipment by reducing repetitive impact wear. The silicone material is flexible enough to absorb some of the force, yet firm enough to consistently remove grounds. The knock box itself is constructed from a durable material that feels solid in hand and resists tipping when in use. A non-slip base helps keep the box stable on countertops, even when knocked repeatedly. This stability adds confidence during fast-paced coffee preparation or when quickly clearing multiple shots.Another practical aspect is that the knock box is detachable and dishwasher safe. Being able to separate components for cleaning makes maintenance easier, and dishwasher compatibility means it can be cleaned thoroughly with minimal effort. Regular cleaning is important to prevent buildup of oils and grounds, which can affect both hygiene and odor over time.A few considerations include its size; while the 1.5-liter capacity is generous for many home setups, users with high daily shot volumes might find themselves emptying it more frequently. Additionally, like most knock boxes, it will need to be emptied and rinsed regularly to avoid stale grounds and lingering moisture.Overall, this knock box offers a practical, stable, and relatively quiet solution for disposing of used espresso grounds, combining ease of cleaning with functionality that suits both casual users and more frequent brewers.

Sturdy

The plastic body is thick and sturdy. So far it has had no trouble standing up to the beating it takes and I don't see that changing down the line. Same with the bar. The silicon wrap on the bar has held up fine as well. They say quiet, sure, it's quieter compared to an unwrapped hard bar but it's always going to make some noise. It helps but don't think you're not going to wake the baby or alert the dog or something.Another thing I hadn't considered but has worked out well for us is the capacity of this thing. We would do, on average, 3 double shots on weekdays and 4 on the weekends. So figure 23 shots a week. I don't think we've ever run out of capacity in a week. On garbage night we just dump it out into the trash and throw the whole thing in the dishwasher. It comes out of the dishwasher looking brand new. It's winter now, so it's cool and dry in the house. Maybe in the summer the stink factor would creep in first, but so far we haven't noticed anything. It's not a bad looking unit either. It's very simple black aesthetic that will fit in just about anywhere. The Popspresso name is on the front but it's relatively muted and not garish or anything. This is our second Popspresso accessory after their gravity distributor. I'm a little skeptical about gravity distributors in general but I will say theirs is well made. Anyway, it seems like a decent brand. This is working out well for us and we're really glad we got it. It's a good value.
