Beautiful tools

What's not to like? These are beautiful to the point of being works of art. The weld, polish, overall quality, and heavy grade of steel is perfect for a life-long tool. The balance is excellent; these tools are meant to be used! One tip about the wooden plug handles: give them a wipe-down with food-grade mineral oil from time to time, like should be done with any good wooden bowl or cooking spoon or stirrer. This prevents swelling and shrinking and eventual loosening or splitting. It also makes it much easier to clean the wooden grip from hand and food staining. I've got wooden bowls that have lasted decades in wonderful condition despite being used for soups and stews all that time. Regular wiping down with mineral oil is the secret. (Wood makes the best handle grips and eating ware because it is both insulating and pathogenic. Germs don't survive on wood like they do on plastic ware, and holding a hot bowl of food feels comfortable on the hand, thanks to the natural insulation of the wood container. Water is the enemy of wood, and a good mineral oil coating soaked into the wood pores is the answer to handles, containers, and tools.

well made

These are well made; they are not wimpy in any way. My wood handles came tight fitting and were not loose as some have complained about. To that I say they are wood and it does shrink when it dries out and does expand when wet. If you have a problem do like another guy did use a rivet to retain the handle. That is a wimpy complaint to me. I like how robust they are and feel they will last a long time. I also found the shovel to have a slightly sharper edge than I like so I will use some No. 400 wet or dry sand paper to get the edge that I like and I will be happy!!!!

Quality and the looks are great

The wooden handle came out of the ladle but I tightened back, can't wait to use it on my wok. I have been using the plastic spatula for a month or so. I forgot that Amazon had these items was going to go to Chinatown and get from 99 Ranch market. Thanks Amazon.

short wood handles

The utensils themselves are sturdy and functional. The handle is terrible; a 3" wooden thing. I need to find a wood dowel and make my own. The wood part of the handle needs to be a good 4" longer so that you don't have 2-3 fingers on the metal part of the utensil. Made in China.

Handles are tight, metal work excellent

Unlike what other purchasers have experienced, the wooden handles on my examples were firmly inserted and attached. The finish of the metal is excellent as I saw very little defects, very highly polished.I suspect that there has been quality control issues in the past which the manufacture intends to correct. There’s even now a sticker that says that the handles are inserted into the metal shafts without any nails/screws so that they can be replaced when worn. When these wooden handles get cracked or split I intend to make some new ones out of Hickory that’s just a given with these type of imported kitchen tools.

Poor quality control!

The spatula has a gap in the seam. Steam and food will get inside the tube and rot. This should have been sent back to the welders on the assembly line. I am sending for a replacement and will update my review then. The replacement came quick (thank you Amazon). Unfortunately the spatula is poor quality again, the third photo. When I put air pressure in the top end it came out the crack. I will send for one more replacement. I really want this set so that I can make my own handles.
