Culinary school grad APPROVED!

Recently got back into home bread making, so I got this set. It’s been great!! Everything you need is included. I especially love the temperature sticker for the starter jar that goes from black to color based on the room temperature. The feeding band is also fantastic, as it has labels for each day and notches notating the time in three hour increments.The bowl scraper is a bit stiff for my personal preference, but this allows it to double as a bench scraper to cut the dough. The bench scraper that’s included has a handle, making it easy to hold and use. The silicone brush is a bit small, but I love that the whole thing is silicone, rather than a wooden handle. And the long, silicone spatula is a game changer for feedings!!I store all the additional items in the bowl and cover it with the fabric cover (minus the starter jar), so that everything stays together, and I can grab everything when I’m ready to use it.Please note that the shape is for making a boule, not a batard.Lastly, the danish dough whisk— I don’t know how I’ve gone this long without one. I remember using them in culinary school years ago, but never had one for personal use until now. This one is super sturdy and easy to use. The only downside is that it does have a wooden handle. (I personally hand wash all tools with wooden handles and ensure that they’re dried thoroughly, as the spot the wood is attached to the tool is typically a place that harbors bacteria and mold.)All in all, this has been a great purchase and I use it regularly!!—Graduate of The Culinary Institute of America with AOS in Baking and Pastry

She uses the tools almost daily and has really enjoyed working on her sourdough starter. So far, she’s made a loafs of sourdough and bagels, and everything has turned out great. I bought because I am switching from making bread with dry yeast to sourdough starter. The starter jar was recommended by a professional. The silicone mat, basket, breathable cover and bread lame were nice extras I wanted to add to my kitchen. The long silicone scraper is wonderful for reaching the bottom of the jar and the sides too. Everyone working with dough will appreciate the silicone brush, dough whisk, dough scraper and bowl scraper if you don't already have them. It is a great value, easy to use and clean. The jar is the star! Two lids: one air tight for the refrigerator and a breathable cloth cover for the counter. The includes measuring lines to monitor the changes in the dough starter, an elastic band record the time you started and the height of the dough. It has a thermometer band that can you determine where best to store your starter.Also, very helpful are the instructions. Don't waste your time with comparing YouTube videos and multiple blogs. The best instructions were in the box! Read them and you enjoy success quickly! Love my starter kit!

Great kit, great price!

Bought this as a gift recommended by a friend who sour doughs. She said it’s everything needed to get started. It came below our Pollyanna spending allowance, so a great price. I’ve just started making sourdough and the set is perfect and provides you everything you need to make a starter and bake your first loaf. Products seem well-made I especially love the mixing spatula. It helps mix the starter easily and also helps scrape down the edges of the jar.
