Really cool for entertaining
This was a really good choice.I had never heard of a raclette grill before. Upon inspection, I discovered that there were little trays under the grill itself for melting cheese, that could also be used to keep something warm.I did a little research and discovered that the top grill is intended for small pieces of vegetables or meat. I would partially pre-cook potatoes! It's supposed to be for bite sized pieces or maybe 2 bites.Raclette cheese is expensive! I intended to get some, but there's no way I can afford it. Cheeses with similar properties are Swiss and cheddar. I'm sure us ignorant Americans (and others) won't really mind.Since this is intended to be placed in the middle of the table with prepared goodies, ready for grilling or melting, set where people can choose for themselves, this is a small party appliance. It could also be used for families.I love it.

Item: Raclette grill electric grill with two grilling plates and two thermostat- We got the grill having no idea it’s also for melting cheese like a fondue, or melting cheese on top of other foods.- One end stays together but the other end can split open and separate, which makes sense now that I know about maybe dipping food in cheese! The manual says (p5) to pre-heat then turn temp control knob to desired level. Our unit does not have a control knob. We only have 2 on/off switches with 1 temp only. Each of the 2 switches (translated as thermostats) control one each of the 2 sides. After turning them on, you could feel the heat when standing next to the grill.- The grill plate on top is big enough to cook your meat. We had chicken this first time that was easy to tell when it was cooked. We put chopped veggies in the bottom trays. Quickly found there wasn’t much height, so picked some off and put those on the top grill plate. My husband put a slice of our favorite cheese, Havarti, on the veggies. Our food was delicious.- The plates weren't as easy to clean as you would think, being non-stick. We soaked them 3 times and used a brush (don't use anything that will scratch the surface).

Good for Small Grilling, But Slow for Meats
The raclette grill works well for melting cheese, grilling vegetables, and cooking smaller items. I tried grilling chicken drumsticks, but it took a long time, and they were only half-cooked since there’s no cover to trap heat. We had to finish them in the air fryer to get them fully cooked.It’s a fun appliance for casual, small meals or appetizers, but not ideal if you want to grill thicker meats quickly. Works best for what raclette grills are usually intended for.

A neat tabletop electric hibachi like thing!
I've never heard of a raclette grill before... But this is really cool to have when you have company over. It's like having an electric hibachi grill on your table top. Each individual can cook there food to their own desired doneness and have a lot of fun doing it.This little grill heats up extremely quickly and cooked very well when we tested it. It quickly seared small chunks of chicken, beef and fresh Louisiana shrimp for us and I guests. The top grill plates simply set in place and are easy to remove and clean after the grill is cooled down. The small broiler pans are non-stick and a quick rinse in the sink cleans them up beautifully.This is a fun and unique way to serve food in your kitchen or dining room and we had a lot of fun using it. I don't see anyone ever using this daily, but I can definitely see getting it out when companies over. It's definitely a conversation starter when you set it up and tell everybody to start cooking their own food. I had a group of eight middle-aged adults acting like young school children roasting marshmallows over a campfire.This is a terrific value for the price and easy to recommend. It's fun and it worked exactly as I had hoped. If at any point in time something about this grill changes I will absolutely update this review. But for now we're having fun with our grill and hope we will continue to for a long time.

Missing trays and left HUGE burn spots on my table!
SUPER upset! The raclette is missing the metal plates for the bottom that hold the trays and now I have not one, but TWO big burn spots on my table and we can’t even use it for Christmas Eve dinner. This doesn’t even deserve one star. Mad doesn’t even begin to explain mug frustrations right now.
