Nice, but quality control needs to be better
The blade is chipped at the front and the butt cap is not flush with the wood so you have a rough spot from the metal butt cap that rubs your hand. To send it back for a replacement i have to take it to a UPS store which is 18 miles from me or they will charge 7.99 to have UPS pick it up at the house, not worth the headache of sending it back. It is a nice knife and the blade does seem to be well made, except for the chip. Update: i had originally gave 2 stars because of the chipped blade, but i upped it to 5 because the customer service is top notch. They reached out to me and offered a refund without me even asking for one. This company truly stands behind the quality of their products, you can't go wrong to try them. Thanks again to the company for excellent customer service.

Great low-priced all-purpose knife
I'm not a person who owns a lot of expensive knives, generally buying something affordable and using it until it stops working, then picking up something else, repeat the cycle, etc. This knife gives the feel of a more expensive knife at an affordable price. It has a good, solid weight to it that's balanced, and makes it comfortable and easy to use for an extended period of time. It's a good length for a chef knife, and works well as an all-purpose knife. Plus, it's got a kind of funky look to it. It's not going to be on the level of high-end professional knives, but it's a great option for the price.

Pretty chef knife, visually pleasing
This knife makes a strong first impression. The presentation is excellent, the Damascus pattern is visually striking, and the balance feels very good in hand. Out of the box, the edge is sharp, the handle is comfortable, and it performs well in normal kitchen use. For most home cooks, this knife will feel substantial, capable, and premium.Where things get a little complicated is in how this knife is marketed. While it’s presented as a Japanese-style chef’s knife, the overall design feels more like a Western or French pattern with a VG10 core and decorative Damascus cladding. That’s not a bad thing — VG10 is a proven steel, the blade thickness is reasonable, and the knife should hold up well during regular use — but it’s not what many knife enthusiasts would consider a traditional Japanese workhorse. If you’re familiar with Japanese knives, you’d typically expect a thinner blade, different geometry, and often a different steel choice. In that context, the Damascus pattern here is more aesthetic than functional. Again, none of that makes this a poor knife — it just means it’s aimed more at visual appeal and general usability than strict traditional design. All that said, the knife feels good to use. The balance is near perfect, the handle is well shaped, and the blade moves confidently through ingredients. It’s easy to see why this would please the average buyer, especially as a gift. The box presentation alone makes it feel special. In short, this is a good, attractive, and functional chef’s knife — just one that’s better appreciated as a well-made modern kitchen knife rather than a traditional Japanese blade. If you approach it with that expectation, it delivers.

Sharp!
Wow... sharp right out of the box! I'm always a bit suspicious of Damascus knives, as there are plenty of fakes out there that just have the multi-layers etched onto the blade rather than the real thing.I've checked this knife out very carefully and pronounce it to be the real deal. It's well balanced and of good quality... a good addition to our kitchen tools.

For the price this can't be beat. Amazing quality.
Excellent knife for under $50. I ordered the chefs knife and it is hands down my favorite knife. This Damascus steel chefs knife is both beautiful to look at and a delight to use. The blade weight and handle weight are evenly distributed. The bolster segues into the blade smoothly. This allows an even grip that makes the blade feel like an extension of your hand. Smoothly slicing, dicing, and chopping. Ingredients slide off the blade like water. The blue variegated wooden scales further bring out the beauty of the rippling Damascus design on the blade. The blade is sharp and even. No nicks or rolled edges. This is an excellent knife for the price. It is comfortable in my tiny hands as well as my husbands giant man mitts. It is as functional as it is beautiful. I would order again and will try some of the other blades they offer. Highly recommend. This would also make a great gift.

Most beautiful and razor sharp knife!
I knew this was going to be my favorite knife the minute I opened the box. The beautiful Damascus blade is eye-catching, but the handle is what really won me over! My husband looked at it skeptically and asked if it was sharp. I assumed it was, so I pulled a potato out of the pantry to test it. It was like slicing through butter. I was in love! I immediately looked to see what other matching knives were available and made plans to clear off my magnetic knife holder so this baby could be on display! It arrived in a beautiful box, so it would definitely make an excellent gift for the chef in the family, but believe me, you’ll want it for yourself! I definitely have plans to get more!
