love this tea kettle

Love this tea kettle. It is just the right size for one person and whistles loud enough to hear when I'm in another room. It is easy to clean. Looks nice on my sitting on my stove.

Perfect!

I have a vintage style home and wanted a polished stainless steel kettle to go with the stainless stovetop percolator I keep on my stove- replacing the unnecessarily large enamel kettle I currently have.I was hesitant to get this because of some of the reviews that the whistle was awful. I actually wanted a whistling kettle that WASN'T loud and shrill like my current one which sounds like a smoke alarm.I tested this kettle with water at the max line - it whistled. I used less than the max (about a mug and a half which is what I'll make for myself) - it whistled. Filled it past the max line (just covering the spout holes) - it whistled. The sound of the whistle is perfect for me and a refreshing change. I don't generally go far from the stove when I have the kettle on anyway so it's not a big deal. It isn't as if I'm putting the kettle on the stove then going off to watch TV. I could hear it from the bathroom - dining room - and my home office from just down the hall without any trouble. Maybe if I had a house full of noisy people I wouldn't be able to hear it... but usually for large gatherings I pull out the electric kettle for faster boil time.So.. I love the look.. it's the right size.. and the whistle is perfect for my needs. I'll occasionally polish it with Flitz metal polish like I do my vintage percolator and it will stay looking shiny and new.

Good in very way but one.

This teapot is attractive, sturdy and boils the water quickly. I can’t give five stars though because the lid is so tight which makes it very difficult for me to insert and remove.

Cute and shiny round tea kettle

Brief edit after several months of using daily: I love it! It comes to a boil quickly, whistles, and still looks like new. No discoloration inside or out and no rust. Pours without dripping. I'm still using highest heat on the smallest eye of my electric glass cooktop, with no problems. Half a liter of water boils in just under 5 minutes on high.I actually needed a smaller tea kettle but the only small one I liked, an expensive brand, had many bad reviews re rusting. I ordered this one instead and I'm pleased with it so far. It's larger than I need but isn't huge and looks good on my stove, as I make a cup of tea once or twice almost everyday. The flat bottom measures 5 inches across and doesn't quite cover my smallest 6" stove eyes.Unlike some reviews, mine does whistle even with only 16 fl. oz. of water in it, which comes to about a half-inch below the bottom of the inside spout openings. The whistle isn't loud or shrill but is loud enough to hear (see video).48 fl. oz. of water comes to about halfway up the inside spout openings, so it can hold much more water than one person probably needs, but it works with less water. Two quarts completely cover all the inside spout openings. The box says 2.2 liters but that may be a stretch for actual use. The stainless steel is a little thicker than I expected, maybe medium weight, and the bottom is thick and flat. It seems well made and it heats up quickly. The box says to use only low to medium heat because flames would go up the sides to the spout. My electric glass cooktop has no flames so I use highest heat on the smallest size stove eye. I've had no problems using high heat. The box says it was "Made in China," but the bottom of the kettle is marked "Germany" (not "made in," though). The bottom also says it can be used on gas, electric, ceramic, halogen, and induction cooktops. It does not give specifics on the stainless steel, but amazon's info says 18/8, which should not rust. It doesn't say whether it's okay to put in a dishwasher, but the spherical shape would not drain completely so I'll just swish mine out with soapy water. Mine had no information card inside, just what's on the box and kettle bottom, but it did include a small packet of citric acid detergent for any mineral deposits. I've not needed to use that yet. It's a cute round stainless steel tea kettle that's not super big and works for me. If I have any rust or other problems, I'll try to remember to edit my review.

Love it!

I have officially retired my electric kettle. Love my stovetop kettle. The whistle is not so loud that it becomes unbearable so sometimes I just leave it whistling until I'm ready lol.No rust issues. Definitely worth the cost. Good thickness feels sturdy. The handle does get a bit hot but not unbearably so.

It's too cute

Update 8/8/2024:It does not "whistle" like it claims, so I cannot expect to hear the kettle when it's ready from another room. It also started oxidizing pretty quickly, so now it has these funky discoloration spots on it. It's not a huge deal for me, but for some people this probably matters. TBH I rarely use it, but am not sure how well this product will hold up in the long run. I absolutely dislike that the handle moves back and forth. It makes handwashing this kettle a pain because you try to hold it by the handle with one hand and apply a sponge with the other, and it just flops around on you.Original post:I didn't take any pictures of it but it absolutely is exactly like advertised. Although, I have yet to hear it whistle when it gets hot enough. Perhaps I'm not realizing that I'm filling it over the max line? It's kind of hard to tell. I wish they had put the max line inside the kettle so you can see where the water line is in comparison. That would be my only complaint. However, it works just fine and I have used it twice to heat up water. I thought that this thing came with a tea diffuser inside, but I guess I misunderstood.Size is enough to make 2.5 to 3 large cups of tea (16 Oz cups) if you fill it just above max-line. My mom said, when she opened the box, "it's as big as my head!"
