A Big Help for Baking Bread!

I like to bake a lot of bread for family and friends. I bought these gloves because the oven mitts I had previously did not provide the manual dexterity I needed to lift heavy baking stones out of my oven. I knew these gloves were designed for barbeque situations and probably could take a lot of heat. I was right! Though just a little large on my hands, these gloves work great!WHAT I LIKE:-- VERY thick fabric. NO heat gets through at all, even at 500 degrees F.-- Non-slip silicone dots so I can grip heavy pans securely.-- Gloves go a good way up my arm, so no third degree burns on my wrists!-- As I said, really nice dexterity with the individual fingers. I can more securely grab thinner pans, casserole dishes, etc. with the gloves.NOTHING I don't like about these. Well, maybe the company could make gloves like this a wee bit smaller for smaller hands, not just pitmasters' hands. But that's OK, I like them anyway. Five stars.

Very Pleased

This is 4.5 stars rounded upward to 5. I ordered these for use in the kitchen. In addition to being efficient at protecting my hands, even when I grasp the hot oven rack and then pick up a heavy dish from inside the oven. But for me, the best thing is that these gloves are not made for the Jolly Green Giant. My hands are about average size for a Boomer female, and slightly smaller than average compared to all other female adults in the U.S. It's amazing how many kitchen gloves are not only too large, but so large as to be unsafe, even though manufacturers claim they are sized Small to Medium for women. Whereas I am confident that the fingertips would stretch to accommodate hands a bit larger than mine, I can use them to pick up fairly small items; there isn't the all-too-common issue of dealing with an inch or more of fingertip glove flopping around at the end of the glove. So I call this a definite win.I have not tried to wash them, but from previous gloves I've owned, I think they will be fine in the washing machine on cold, and then air dry.The missing half star is because these are promoted as being safe to barbecue. I disagree. Silicone gloves are far safer for that task. If I need to handle the barbecue rack while it's hot, or pick up a glowing coal accidentally ejected from the barbecue--not a usual occurrence, but it's been known to happen--these fabric gloves are not going to do the job. Also, since it's the silicone-like design that is raised above the fabric that makes them heatproof, I feel pretty confident that these gloves wouldn't be safe once they're wet. I have a lot of faith in them as heatproof kitchen gloves, but very little faith in them as bbq gloves.

The fit is kind of strange, I have small hands and it is tight where the fingers join, yet the palm and back of the had are loose and baggy. Seems to be heat resistant, haven't tried it on anything super hot for any length of time.

Really nice color and heat protection

These were really nice oven mitts. Great color and pertectionI did order the small size and they fit, it just took a bit to pull them on and when I'm ready to take something out of the oven, I just want to put gloves on quickly. I think they would work great for a grill or when you are using them continually, because they go up pass your wrist a ways, so great protection. I just didn't need anything like that.
