Understated Elegance: Dinnerware That Helps You Capture Every Crumb.... in Style
I ordered this set for a very specific person lol.My twenty-one-year-old son is a giant and he never leaves a crumb behind. Obviously, a completely flat plate makes the last bits harder to reach. The gorgeous raised lip on the dinner plate solves that problem! When the set arrived, I washed everything and put it in the cabinet. Later that day, I walked into his room..... and he was already using the dinner plate! He looked at me and said, “Mom, look at this plate. This is the best plate ever- where did this come from? I can get every crumb!"(Nobody else buys dinnerware, but I think it just blew his mind that I was able to see the benefit of this design from his perspective lol).What I didn't expect was the beauty; this set is super solid, yet still manages to pull off an understated, elegant look. The glaze is smooth, and the soft shading along the rim gives the pieces a touch of refinement. Everything arrived carefully packed and in perfect condition, and the pieces look exactly as pictured.The one thing that I would change about this set is that the pieces are a bit smaller than I'm used to. I know that a slightly smaller diameter often shows up in dinnerware that leans toward a more elegant or European style; they often use plates that are sized for tighter presentation and balanced portions because the result looks more refined on the table. In many places, the smaller size is actually part of the aesthetic. Unfortunately, here in America, we supersize everything, don't we? The aforementioned 21-year-old would probably have to fill this dinner plate a couple of times in order to find enough crumbs to fill his belly. Then again, you might look at this smaller size as a good thing – we 'mercans eat too much, don't we? Smaller plates and smaller serving sizes aren't necessarily a bad thing!The bottom line is that the design works for practical reasons, but it also looks crisp and polished on the table. It has a clean, minimal style that works for everyday meals, but it would also be appropriate if you're setting a table for a special occasion/ guests. Very happy with this set- I will be going back to buy more pieces.
