EXCELLENT product for storing butter at room temperature

I am a fan of room-temperature butter yet living in Hawai'i, the heat and humidity dramatically reduce the lifecycle of butter. I wanted a container that would hold at minimum two (2) sticks of traditional American-style butter or a block of Irish Butter. This dish is the perfect size and the seal keeps air out of the container. The ceramic construction is heavy and dishwasher safe, I do hand-wash the wood like and gently clean the silicone seal. The style is somewhat Scandinavian and looks great on my granite counter tops. It's easy to open and close and butter lasts longer in this butter dish than other glass butter dishes which may look great yet aren't effective in keeping air out of the container. The color, design, and description are spot on, I recommend this product

What a nice cute butter container!

I bought this butter container recently and here is my review.Starting with how the container looks I noticed this butter container is a bit thicker than I expected as it doesn't fit on the shelf of my refrigerator that I intended to put it on. That shelf is just a little wider than a stick of butter but that's just a small issue to complain about. The container being wide isnt all bad as I realized it can hold 2 or more butter sticks. This helps me store more butter as a nice convenience. Your experience may vary since I don’t know what size of butter sticks you buy or how many you are going to put in there.The wooden lid and rubber gasket provides a proper seel for the butter to maintain freshness for your butter. Some reviews here say their lid doesnt work or doesnt provide a proper seel when they try to close their container. Make sure that the rubber gasket is correctly installed on the wooden lid. If it doesn’t seel, the rubber gasket may have been installed incorrectly. Mine was installed just fine so just double check before writing a bad review like some other reviews.Examining the ceramic, I feel it is very high quality so I am confident placing this in the refrigerator while under other food containers. I’m no expert on ceramic but my container hasn’t broken yet so that is good news.Before I placed butter in my container, I gave it a nice wash and found it is very easy to scrub with soap and water. The wooden lid I just wiped it with a damp paper towel and dried both well before storing any butter.Overall, I am currently enjoying this butter container. I will update this review if I notice anything as I continue to use it.

Good, solid addition to my kitchen

My family uses a lot of butter. A lot. We were trying to save a bit of money getting the sticks instead of the softened type that comes in a plastic tub, so I found this butter dish. I've used it for over 2 years with little issues, so the quality is good.The lid is beautiful, and comes with a removable silicone seal. Over the months, small amounts of trapped moisture have slightly darkened the edge on the inside, but there is no mold to be seen.The dish itself is large and deep enough to hold two US standard sticks of butter, or one full European size one, plus a bit more. I tried stacking two european style (Kerrygold) one on top of the other and they push against the lid and make a mess. Don't be me and make a mess.This dish keeps the butter softened even during winter, and hasn't melted so far in the summer. When it's particularly hot outside, though, it tends to stick to the edges and leave a bit more residue, so keep that in mind. It's nothing that a good cleaning between refills hasn't solved.If you don't use a lot of butter, keep in mind that after about 2 weeks outside, the dish starts smelling. . . cheesy. Mine smells of Parmesan cheese, actually. The taste can change a bit, too, but it does not become rancid. All in all, a solid addition to any kitchen!
