Simple elegance suitable for everyday and perhaps even formal use.
This 16-piece stoneware set from Fortessa is great and I am really pleased with it. Stoneware dinnerware is known for its durability though it is prone to chipping. It often has a rustic, some might even say masculine look but this particular Fortessa set comes in an attractive matte-finish, not the typical thick glaze of most Stoneware. The linen color makes it attractive enough to be used in a minimalist formal dining setting as well as something you would use everyday. It does not have visible speckling and the texture is smooth to the touch. This set a great choice for dinnerware if you are looking for something for everyday use. It is durable, solid and not too heavy. While some Stoneware sets can weigh up to 16 pounds (service for 4) , the Fortessa weighs in at 12 pounds. It is not so heavy as to be cumbersome, something to consider when shelving weight is a concern. It is micro-wave and dishwasher safe as well as suitable for use in an oven at temperatures 400º and below. The bowls are nice and deep. The salad plate is a generous 5.75" wide and complement the 10.75" wide place quite nicely. The cups have a thinner than expected rim for stoneware and the elegantly shaped handle is comfortable. If you like quiet elegance and something that is suitable for everyday use you will be well pleased with this product at a reasonable price. If you are looking for something with a little more razzle-dazzle then I would pass.

Beautiful set with a wonky rim that’s part of the charm and design.
I have to admit…once these arrived and I removed from the box I was extremely pleased and then I was thrown off. I looked at the edges and first thought was “ who was learning to throw pottery on a wheel their first day and decided to sell it?” I couldn’t believe how wonky the edges were. Then, the more pieces I withdrew, the more I realized every piece had the same affliction. Then, with more thought and review, I realized it was actually a pattern and designed to be that way. After realizing this, and the more acquainted with the set I got, I really liked it. It gave it that farmhouse feel or hand thrown charm and now I love it.The set is very heavy duty. The finish is smooth and not glossy but more of a matte finish. The handle on the cup has elegance and charm and this gives a great minimalist feel and look.This is the perfect size for us and our family. The cup fits right in our hands when held. The plate the perfect size for a smaller serving and the bowls shaped similarly to a rice bowl and holds chop sticks on the top with the pattern on the rim. As seniors, this set is the perfect size for us.It’s our new daily set since it’s dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. Our formal set is home thrown ceramic with a glaze that easily chips. Because this is heavy stoneware, I know it will hold up better over time.This is a lovely set that should last us the rest of my years. And with the soft, minimalist coloring, and overall charm it will go with my farmhouse styling with ease.

Elegant, well finished stoneware that's family ready
This dinnerware passed all of the tests for our household. The stoneware is very well finished with even coloring and smoothness. It is microware safe and the ceramic does not heat disproportionately to the contents. Each piece feels substantial without being heavy. Utensils do not bother the finish. I traced silverware over it vigorously (the six-year-old test) and was impressed that it did not scratch or scuff the finish of the dinnerware. This is a good value set that is elegantly simple without being plain.
