This is a great idea, as you make candy and stir it up, the temperature control is at your finger tips. The digital numbers are easy to read, even with tri-focal glasses, it's a great cooking item, ,has a good quality about it. We were skeptical because of other reviews, but the value for the money is right there. After several uses we still reach for this Candy Thermometer over the glass one.
I used this mostly for making yogurt, it's so convenient to have one spatula that can mix and monitor the temperature of the milk at the same time. This spatula is tall so the battery end won't fall into the pot. The numbers are large and easy to read, and has been working like a charm!
My wife uses this for making jam. Works perfect.
This was a gift for a family member who bakes a lot! She really enjoys it.
I just made homemade caramels and used this. Oh my word! I love, love, love this! So much easier and accurate. I like to make candy, but hate the side clip glass thermometers. I have a laser point and shoot and it measures at least 20-30 degrees hotter than this. Caramel turned out perfect, perfect, perfect!I am just very upset and u happy someone never told me about this thing years ago!
This product is great, for the most part. I made candy and I would make 2 changes if I could.1. I would make the handle longer so my hand can be further from the heat.2. I would move the buttons for the thermometer maybe to the top of the handle so I'm not constantly pushing them as I stir.
I bought this quite a while ago and just used it for the first time while canning jelly this year. It’s really useful because now, I can tell when the jelly gets to 220 degrees now instead of guessing. It really is a useful gadget.
