Not the best kitchen tools
I picked up this “2 essential kitchen tools in one set – an egg piercer and a yolk separator” because I frequently separate eggs and thought these may be helpful.I tested the piercer first which makes a tiny pinhole in the egg to supposedly make peeling easier. There was no leakage when cooking and the eggs were done in the normal amount of time. I did not find them any easier to peel, but there was less egg white stuck to the shells after peeling, so I guess the piercer helped in that regard.Next test was on the separator, which is made of flimsy, lightweight plastic, so I’m not sure it would be truly dishwasher safe as listed. Shaking is required to actually get the whites to separate properly and the large slits destroyed one of three yolks. I have about the same odds using eggshells or my hands, so this item is really of no value to me.I figured the two pieces would at least be able to be stuck together and hung by the magnet (on the back of piercer), but, no, they are indeed two separate pieces that must be stored individually. At least there is a hole for hanging on the separator.Bottom line, I don’t think this “set” is worth $6.99. While the piercer partly works, the separator feels cheap and doesn’t really make working with eggs any easier, just adds extra cleaning time.

Great for Hard Boiled Eggs
I ordered this mainly for the egg punch. I usually eat hard boiled eggs for breakfast. I have an egg cooker that came with an egg punch but it was attached to the bottom of a plastic container. I would inevitably end up breaking the shell. With this punch I have made 3 dozen hard boiled eggs with out one cracking. It is very easy to use, just place the egg on the punch and push down. I puts a small hole in the egg shell which prevents it from breaking apart during cooking. The punch is made with durable metal and has a rubber bottom to prevent movement. the punch as a very sharp point which makes it very easy to use. The egg separator works well also. It is made of plastic but still durable. Just crack an egg and pour into the separator and it easily separates the yolk from the egg white. I highly recommend this combo if you cook a lot of eggs, it is a good value for the money!

Economical egg white and egg piecer that does its job
I've gone through 2 different versions of egg white separators and haven't been too successful with them and always falling back to the moving yolk eggshell to eggshell routine to separate. This is a combination of two products as part of a package: 1 the separator and 2 an egg piecer before boiling your egg. When ordering, I had two options for the egg piecer which is the plastic yellow colored or the stainless steel. I opted for the stainless-steel version of the egg punch, and I was hoping for more, but it's just the facade that is stainless steel, but it is not in fact truly stainless-steel material. The piecer works fine in that you push down and that exposes the small needed to punch a small hole through the egg. The plastic separator also seems to do what it's supposed to do, but I notice that while 75% of the egg white quickly fell through, there's another 25% that's just hanging on (see the picture). I get the feeling after so many tries, it's not possible to easily just have all egg white drop down easily no matter the product and some will just stick to the yolk without some intervention. I believe this product is doing all it can to get what isn't attached to the yolk to be separated down and there just are some instances where some of the white has to be separated manually. All in all, this seems to work but isn't entirely magical to get all the egg white off if it's too attached to the yolk. It's all lightweight plastic so I wouldn't call it the most durable but should last you a long time with proper care and all for an economical price. You can get something more durable, but you'll have to pay a higher price for that so if you're okay w/ plastic, this is an entirely acceptable option as long as you know it may not get 100% of the white separated due to attachments.

I wanted to love these items but….
I really wanted to love this egg separator and shell piercer. Unfortunately, they did not meet my expectations.I sacrificed an egg to test both of these items out and have detailed what I discovered below.Egg piercer:The egg piercer is made of stainless steel and has a rubber bottom to grip the counter so it doesn’t slide around when you’re trying to pierce the egg. I like the quality of it but the needle just wasn’t long enough to pierce through the shell of the egg. It made a small hole but didn’t go all the way through. I think if it was a smidge longer, it would have done the job amazingly. As it is now, it did not get the job done.Egg separator:The egg separator is fairly small and made of thin plastic. I put it on top of a cup and took the same egg and gave the separator a shot. Unfortunately, the plastic wasn’t able to separate the albumen from the yolk and the albumen kept dangling off of it but not falling into the cup. I had to give it a few wiggles and shakes and some fell into the cup but most did not. Took about two minutes wigging the separator to get the albumen to fall. More fell, but the last little bit did not separate and the final shake I gave it broke the yolk. I do much better with the old fashioned shell trick. This separator is going in the trash.

Cheap plastic
This egg separator works, but the plastic is so cheap. I’m not even sure it’s dishwasher safe. I also wish that it was a little bigger or had a larger handle on both sides of it because it's easier to use if you set it over a bowl and crack the egg over top of it.Honestly, based on ease of use and durability, if I were to do it again, I don't think I'd order this one. I'd keep looking for a different option.
