From my experience, this item does not work. So far, it has successfully opened one (1) can - and it had to go around the can 3 times before we could lift the lid off.Ease of use:On the surface, this appeared to be an answer to mechanical openers when hand strength is limited. Nice idea. Lousy application.
This gadget is the answer if you hate cleaning your hand held can opener that is usually rusty after a short while. No sharp edges. I like it much better than an electric can opener.
It opens the can after about three turns around. It is louder than I expected. The magnet has not worked to lift the lid. It also does not stop when it's done. I've learned to let it go three times around. A couple times it's needed more time.
I swear when I looked at the original listing, this had decent reviews. When my can opener was delivered, I put batteries in it and turned it on. It powered on and off so I didn't think much of it and tossed the packaging. We don't use a lot of canned food so it wasn't until a week or two later we tried it out on a can of minced jalapenos. We lined the roller up with the can's edge and turned it on. After a few attempts, it did its thing, circling the lid. But it did not cut the lid. It didn't even make a partial cut. I tried again and again, referring to the instructions. After 10 + attempts we gave up on the can opener and used our manual one. While my husband started to cook dinner I decided I wasn't going to give up and pulled out another can and tried again to open it. Currently, the opener is stuck onto the can, having circled the lid to cut it 2 or 3 times. The lid isn't opened and I can't pry this stupid opener off the can.
This can opener did not last very long at all. The blade did not completely retract making the next use impossible until the can opener was run long enough while holding it that the blade retracted. It didn't last long at all. It is attractive and I wish it had worked better, longer. It was not worth what I paid for it. Giving it 2 stars but I don't know why. It is a one-star item.
This is a piece of crap. It wouldn’t cut hot butter. First time I’ve ever used it was yesterday 6-25-25.Not sure if I can return it, I no longer have the packaging it came in. But it is totally worthless.
If I could rate Zero, I would. Out of the 6 cans I have tried to open with this, it only opened one. One other was partially opened and the others just had a line of "ratchet" marks on the rims of the cans.I bought this because I have become unable to use a manual can opener and my tiny kitchen has no room for a conventional corded can opener.
