Well worth the cost.My wife eats a very selective assortment of foods, French Fries being one of those items. As such, I make French Fries probably every day, sometimes 2-3x a day. Chopping potatoes with a knife works but the fries are uneven and it's time consuming. I tried a mandolin but I was afraid of slicing myself with it. This potato cutter makes it all easier.It only accepts around 4" of potato but I've found that's around 90% of the russet potatoes I use anyways. It's not a big deal to slice the bigger potatoes in half, although it would be nice.My cutter worked great until around 4 months in when it randomly stopped reversing the blade. Not really sure what happened to the machine but I reached out to the seller who was extremely quick to send another new unit to replace mine with. I'm guessing I just got unlucky with a lemon but the seller stands behind their products so there's no risk trying it out!I'd recommend this if you frequently are cutting french fries or french fry shaped veggies!

Not strong enough
We used the device for cutting carrots. The first thing to fail after 2 weeks was the blade, which started coming apart. I had no luck finding parts support with it, even on their website. Contacting them yielded no results. I eventually found a blade for a different cutter, but had the same dimensions, it worked well for 2 more weeks, then the internals went bad, sounds like a stripped gear and has no torque to push the carrot through the blades. I am very mechanically inclined, but I seriously doubt I will find parts to fix it, and unfortunately my window for a refund expired 6/23. Do yourselves a favor, and pay extra for good commercial stuff, and not something made in a third world country.Edit: 7/6/23-i took the unit apart, and found a stripped gear in the gear drive, which was plastic. How anyone could use this to cut potatoes into french fries is beyond me, a plastic gear will never live long enough under such use. Again, we used the cutter to simply cut carrots, which should be a breeze. Total junk, don't buy it.
