Reasonably Priced Salt and Pepper Grinder - Great Quality

I was house sitting for my neighbor and she had a set of grinders similar to this. I looked them up and they were $75 each, so I kept looking and found these for less than half that for both salt and pepper shaker. They work just as well or better than the more expensive ones.I love that these came with a little tray. They do not leak but I prefer to put them on something rather than right on the counter. They take 4 AAA batteries each and it was easy to put the batteries in. I checked out the adjustment for courseness and it's easy to get a multitude of settings. I suggest looking at it before you fill it so you understand how it works. Just turn the thing in the direction you want. You can keep twisting it further than the little guides. Those guides just show you which way to twist to get course or fine grind.Both of these are identical and work great. To top it off there is a nifty light to help show how much you are adding to your food. I am so enthralled with using these that I can not wait to have something to add salt and pepper to.Besides their function these look great too!Love them!Thanks for reading my reviewBecky Brooks

These are very nice grinders that work exceptionally well. One of the two in my set didn’t work consistently from the start and stopped functioning entirely after two months of use. I like these grinders

TLDR: I'll get right to the point - the grinder is kind of slow for peppercorns. It works, but just don't be in a hurry. Fast with salt. Feels like these are decent quality.More points:-The grinders look nice and feel like they are made well.-The buttons on top are easy to press. I have no problems using a grinder with one hand.-The light is nice. It's handy to get a better idea of how much stuff you are grinding.-Salt grinds fast. I bought Himalayan pink salt and have it set to a fairly fine grind.-As I mentioned before, the pepper output is much slower. I have regular black pepper corns. I've tried a fine grind and a course grind. Course is faster. I'm used to using a Turkish coffee grinder (hand crank) - it was faster but required two hands. Now, the speed depends on how much pepper you need. I'm probably making a bigger deal of this than it really is.-The reservoir that holds the salt/pepper is not very large. Guessing it might be 1/4 cup? It might be handy if these were larger (however, the grinder would either need to be taller or wider).-Uses 4 AA batteries. I don't know how long the batteries last yet.I do like the grinders and would buy them again.

UPDATE: The grinders I bought for family members died after very regular use - meaning they were used daily. They lasted about one year - which is not long enough, in my opinion. My grinders have not been used regularly. I keep them in a formal dining room so they are used only on holidays and birthdays. The salt grinder is now dead after minimal usage. I don't recommend these!PREVIOUS REVIEW: I have purchased four sets of these grinders via Amazon. I'm wondering if Latent Epicure has changed manufacturing companies in the recent past because the brand new grinders have some real problems. Two Christmases ago, I bought the first set for my daughter. Before giftwrapping, I added batteries, tested them, added salt & peppercorns. Perfect! This past Christmas, I bought another set for a second daughter. Added batteries and - whoops - one motor didn't work. Amazon sent a replacement set. I added batteries to the grinders in the replacement set and - whoops - one motor didn't work. I kept the two grinders that worked and returned the two that didn't work to Amazon. Then I decided to get a set for my house. Same thing happened. I kept the two grinders that worked and returned the two to Amazon that didn't work. Then my daughter's nanny loved the grinders so I got the fourth set for her for her birthday. The fourth set was my worst experience. The motor on one of the grinders didn't work but, also, the black plastic bottom cap to the grinder wouldn't fit. None of the available caps would fit it. Then, the top that capped the batteries would not seat, with or without batteries in it. The replacement arrived from Amazon and... here we go again... one of the grinders didn't work and the top cap wouldn't seat. We currently have four functioning sets in the family. Not gonna give this another try ever.
