I have three of these now. They are really well made. Great materials and construction. The stainless steel is a great thickness.I used the widest one this morning to move a cheesecake from the springform pan to a cake holder. It worked like champ.I had gotten 2 other brands before I found this brand. They both had curves in the blade. I returned them. These are straight.
The spatula is the best! I use it for my cheesecake. It covers practically the whole cake when transferring it on another plate. It makes it so easy !
First, let me say that his item was a gift for my husband. Now, he is not a professional baker, but he is a very talented hobbyist that happens to love making cakes. This product was wonderful and meet/exceeded my expectations. As a first time Fat Daddio's buyer, I can tell you for certain that this product is heavy duty. Now, in our kitchen it is used for cake lifting which is perfect for our cakes which are ten inch rounds. The reason it is useful to us is because it makes transferring really moist cakes wonderfully easy. No more cracks in the middle of the cakes! In addition, what makes this product shine for us is the heft of the item. It is substantial in size and substantial in weight which made the price economical for us because we realize this will be utilized in our home kitchen for years to come. A quick tip for anyone that has a smaller kitchen... We used a small hook beside our cabinet to store this item hanging upright. In our kitchen, we hand was items like this (old-fashioned), so we can say that it washes beautifully with elbow grease...:) Overall, a very useful product for those that love to bake professionally or casually in my opinion.Now, we are prime members so shipping was fast. The product was packed very well and there was no damage to the package or the product. In fact, there were several layers of bubble wrap for additional security, and this we appreciate!
DURABLE: Thick, solid, non-flexible stainless steel.. not that paper-thin floppy kind found on many items of this nature. It is stiff enough to use to lift a cake layer from a decorating platform, or use as a pizza peel to remove a fully loaded pizza from a pizza stone. Handle is molded plastic, molded onto the handle and I feel it will not come off. Appears completely dishwasher safe.FUNCTIONAL: Large paddle for baked goods or pizzas, flat enough to slide under easily with a quick jabbing motion, but thick enough to hold up with barely any flex.ECONOMICAL: Price is reasonable, not incredible.. but I definitely feel that it will be with me for years. Won't have to buy another when the poorly designed handle snaps off or thin aluminum bends... this is a keeper.WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? Absolutely, it is now part of my kitchen arsenal. Hardest thing about owning it is deciding where to store it. In the pans drawer will be fine!
This is my second purchase. I've had one for years but recently found myself in need of a second one in order to safely transfer a large cake from the carrier to a cake stand and it worked beautifully using the two together. The long handles gave me confidence that the transfer would be successful and it was indeed.
