The perfect coffee cup!

These cups are the perfect size to hold 12 ounces of coffee or tea with a splash of milk…and you’ll still have enough room to avoid spilling it. (16 ounces fills the cup to the brim.) The cups are plain enough to go with any style of dishes, and I especially like the large handles. I was looking for bone china cups, because two of the four ceramic ones that I bought recently have chipped. Bone china is stronger and more chip resistant than ceramic; it’s thinner and lighter, too. I bought these cups for every day use and expect them to last a long time. They are microwave and dishwasher safe.

Great design and good quality 16 oz bone china mugs

This review is for Fine Bone China White Coffee Mugs, 16 oz Large Capacity.Seller Info: There was basically no info about the manufacture of these mugs prior to purchase. The box contains an insert saying "SKAPOOL Fine Bone China", which invites feedback without any address. However the box is marked Hebei Monday International Trading Company Ltd., with email info@hebbonechina.com.Packaging: The mugs were packed in foam in a way that probably defies breakage during shipping. Nice.Design: These mugs stand out for their generous 16 oz volume, but also reduced total width (cup plus handle) compared to some other 12-16 designs out there. This makes them easier to load in a dishwasher and means they take up less space in the cabinet. Design is by far the greatest contributor to my positive rating. This is basically the only 16 oz bone china mug I could find.Quality: These mugs are indeed made of bone china. The weight is almost exactly 1/3rd less than some non-bone porcelain mugs of the same 16 oz capacity. (The 16 oz is right to the top of the cup.) The bottoms are not stamped by the maker. The color is just the tiniest bit brighter white than some other bone china I compared these to, but it's not very noticeable without really staring for a while. I couldn't find any surface defects (such as waves or missing glaze), so the overall look is quality. However, several of the mugs were not absolutely flat on the bottom, allowing perhaps 1/3 of a millimeter of potential rocking on a hard counter. That sounds bad, but it's almost unnoticeable in practice; some very expensive bone chine from Villeroy and Boch has, in some pieces, nearly the same "problem".Use: so far these cups seem dishwasher safe and microwave safe, as described. If they are fully vitrified, as they seem, they should last well, but time will tell. (Don't thermal shock any bone china.) The maker suggests that some staining by tea is possible and offers some care remedies. The cup is light in the hand, but broad enough (about 3.5 in, 5 in with handle) at the top to enjoy the steam and aromas of drinks. The handle is appropriately sized. The tradeoff between these cups and porcelain, I believe, is that these bone china cups might lose heat a bit faster to the air/environment, owing to their thinner walls. The plus is that this might be a bit of a handwarmer.Price: price is good/appropriate, especially with a coupon. Other fine bone china mugs from Lenox or Villeroy and Boch or similar would cost the same or quite a bit more, even from restaurant supply wholesaler, and not be as large.I may update this review if I find issues down the road.
