Great fit works awesome

I originally purchased the actual kitchenaid cover that was supposed to a "perfect fit" for my machine. It wasn't. Not only did it not fit, everything ran down the outside of the bowl but at least i got to pay twice as much for it.After returning it i ordered this one. It is GREAT. It not only fits perfect, it snaps on to the bowl nice and tight. It seems to be a high quality plastic and is half the price.Well done but don't mistake it for the look- alikes that don't "snap" on to the bowl. That is mandatory for a leak proof seal.

Much better fit than manufacturer's

This is a sturdy plastic cover that clips snugly onto the bowl. The original one that came with the bowl would not stay in place and constantly fell off if it was slightly bumped. This one is a much better fit, including fitting closely around the beater. The plastic seems to be better quality and more durable as well.Other reviewers mention that it is hard to get on and off, but I have not experienced that - it clips on and easily lifts off when you pull up on the edge.I am very happy with this purchase.

Still makes a powdery mess

I really hoped this would stop the mess that happens when making buttercream and you add in powdered sugar and it basically wants to fly everywhere, but it didn’t.It does contain some powder from floating around, but a great deal still escapes and I still have sugar to wipe up everywhere. Also, the 3 areas where it attaches to the bowl are tight. I have to pry each one of individually. They don’t pop off east, which is really just an inconvenience.I have it, so I use it, but I don’t think you have to have one. Probably won’t buy one again if this ever breaks

Good buy for the wife

I bought this for my wife she uses it every time she bakes, she loves it. Easy to clean you can stick it right in the dishwasher top shelf.

Fits perfectly

I purchased this for my artisan kitchen aid mixer. The bowl is 8 1/2" across and this snaps on perfectly and does what it is suppose to. No leaking at all. You have to gently pull out on the tabs to remove it and it’s a little tough until you get the hang of it. Glad I purchased it and I recommend this if your looking for one for your mixer.

Love it

This snaps right onto my mixing bowl and stays there. I know other reviewers have stated it did not fit correctly for them & they had to hold in-place while the mixer was running. That is absolutely not my experience. Perhaps there was a revision to the product due to other's comments. With very slight pressure, I'm able to get this to firmly attach to the mixing bowl (it actually clicks as it snaps on). What a great enhancement to my KitchenAid. So much less mess & highly efficient.

Doesn't completely save the mess.

I greatly dislike the mess made when adding both dry and wet ingredients to my Kitchenaid mixer (a problem I never had with my old Sunbeam Mixmaster!) I bought this in hope of saving myself from clouds of flour and showers of milk. It does cut down on the volume lost from the bowl, but doesn't eliminate it entirely as there is still an opening. Also, it's a pain to remove and reattach when having to constantly scrape down the side of the bowl (another problem I never had with my Sunbeam). It's not entirely useless, but I have altered my method of mixing by incorporating ingredients by hand prior to using the machine when adding both very dry (flour or confectioner's sugar) or very wet ingredients which helps with splatter more than this shield. Kitchenaids are beautiful, heavy-duty machines, but not nearly as practical as the old Mixmasters which never needed a shield. I just wish they had been as strong. Granted, it endured heavy use 40 years, but the messy, but strong Kitchenaid would probably outlast it. Would I buy the shield again? Probably not. I would just slow down and stir in ingredients by hand until mixed enough not to send a cloud or shower over everything even on Setting 1. One good thing the shield provides is a chute to pour ingredients through as there isn't much room to do so in a Kitchenaid bowl without lifting the head, and even then, space is limited. (Again, I very much miss the off-set bowl of the Mixmaster which allowed plenty of room for adding anything.) Sigh. Kitchenaid has the name, but not perfect answers.
