Linen/cotton blend. Quite nice, just pricey
- Made in India- 65 linen, 35 cottonI don't know if these could be washed and reused. Given it's a linen blend, I don't see why not, but there's no info about it. I might try a gentle hand wash in cold and air dry. Probably have to iron.I know it's just cocktail napkins but jeez these are nice.Single ply, not all that thick. Absorbs plenty but doesn't protect what's under it.I think the current $30 price is wild but that's up to you.

Very expensive disposable napkins. Noticeable, classy step up from paper.
If you are hosting a backyard BBQ or looking to serve a potluck on paper plates, these are not a great value. If you are looking to host a cocktail dinner party and will be serving fancy food, nice wine and want to present a classy, upscale atmosphere, these are a huge step up from paper napkins. In terms of their sustainability, I am not sure how much more environmentally friendly they are ... but they are made of a linen and cotton blend. They stay flat and don't winkle, although for some reason, they have a fold crease in the center, despite being packed flat.At $30 per pack of 25 ... you'll pay $1 or more per napkin. I have read other reviewers of these who tried to wash them and the napkins shrunk or wrinkled. I am going to use these until they stain and throw them out. The shape is odd for a napkin ... 8 inches square. Normally, cocktail napkins are 4 inches square and dinner napkins are rectangular so they can be folded and placed in one's lap. These are great for me because I have a crystal water pitcher on my desk, like they do in Europe. If the water is cold or I add ice cubes, the condensation forms a ring on my desk, so I put a paper napkin under. At the end of the day and absorbing a lot of water, the paper napkin looks shriveled up and messy. The Five Star linen napkin remains crisp, flat and classy. You can see a comparison in my video, which shows that there really is no comparison in terms of paper vs. linen/cotton.The only thing I don't love is that they have a solid, white edge with a light grey center. I'd much prefer all-white. The printed on stitching around the edge is nice and is only on one side. It gives a handmade look to the napkin but you can flip it over if you want a more solid look. For the right buyer, the value won't be a concern. Those who entertain know that it is almost impossible to get stains out of cloth napkins, especially red tomato sauce. Buying 8 -12 cloth napkins and then throwing a few out because the stains don't come out is more expensive than tossing a $1 disposable napkin after. I've been to some very fancy cocktail parties and hate using a cheap-feeling paper napkin while drinking expensive liquor. Five Star napkins would solve that issue. I would order again for a fancy dinner party but not for everyday use. They are perfect for placing under dishes or pitchers. I hope my honest review after using this product was helpful to you in making a purchase.

Such a classy touch to a cocktail party!
I love Five Star Napkins! I love every style they make. These all white ones are simply elegant for those more serious cocktail parties. I also used these to mix in with some of their other styles to stretch them. I found that sometimes people grab a couple of napkins so these are great for those times when no one really reads them. I was recently throwing a cocktail party a friend needed a napkin to wipe her nose but didn't want to take one of these because she thought they were real cloth! I had to convince her it was ok and that they were disposable! My friends ask for the links all the time to buy for themselves.

One time use, and linen!
I was pleased with these little napkins when they arrived, perfect size for a cocktail party, and although thin a nice linen. After we use them, I put them in the wash machine, and they totally frayed. They were not hemmed just raw edged and fell apart in the washer. Good for one time use only.

I must be an urban hillbilly,
Just not impressed with these for the price. I guess if you're having a fancy party, these might be for you? They're very thin - the package is just a bit shorter than my Bic lighter as pictured. They're cotton, the "linen" is just the color. I know they're listed as 'disposable', but I'm hoping since they're actually fabric that they might be washable to get more use out of them. And paper is just as biodegradable as cotton, IMO. But to be fair, I haven't shopped for paper cocktail napkins, so not sure if the price is comparable. I just wish they were a bit more substantial.

No folding necessary
When I ordered these, I just assumed that they would be a typical 4-fold cocktail napkin. I was surprised when they arrived and I pulled what I thought was 1 napkin out of the package and discovered that I was holding 3. Then it occurred to me how much easier this will be. One layer is really all I need in a cocktail napkin. Each napkin has a finished woven edge. It is not really hemmed but has a faint, decorative line that gives the illusion of a hem as well as a slightly thicker weave around the edges where the hem would be. The description on Amazon says that they are 100% cotton but the package says 65% linen and 35% cotton- which I consider even better. The natural linen color looks very nice and will complement most decor.

Not Functional
I did not find these napkins to be functional. They are small, so not suitable as dinner napkins. They are expensive, so not suitable for everyday use. They are not soft, so uncomfortable to use. But worse, they are not absorbent. When I used them, I found that they had poor absorbancy. I did a little test that is shown in the pictures. Picture 1: Equal sizes of the linen napkin and an inexpensive kitchen paper towel. Picture 2: Six drops of water on each. Picture 3: Under the napkins - the linen napkin did not absorb anywhere close to an inexpensive paper towel.
