Bags from roll won't seal. Unable to make desired size bags. works now so cNCELLED MUY RETURN

arrived fast easy to set up. Vacuumed and sealed food in premade Foodsaver bags. Able to use accessory for foodsaver containers. However, can not make bags from the roll as it will not seal.Spent 2 hours trouble shooting on the phone and with book and on Utube. Nothing worked. Loved the foodsaver premade bags after putting food in just had to put filled bag in vacuum and seal worked well no guess work on how far to insert. For the price I paid it should work as advertized. Being able to make whatever size bag you need from the roll is very important. This was a Foodsaver 4400. Help is an automated line advising you to check gaskets upper and lower. good luck with with that, everything looked and felt like plastic. after setting up my return decided to give it one more chance and the seal works now so the return was cancelled and with the sealer working will give it 5 stars

Passed the test of time

I'm finally getting around to posting a review of the V-4440 vacuum sealer I bought OCTOBER 2016, YES 2016!! Granted this may be an earlier model than currently sold. We use this sealer close to weekly. When shopping, we buy steaks, pork chops, ground beef on sale and deli meats. We also vacuum seal our own fresh caught crab meat. We use off brand rolls of bags bought on Amazon. This is steady, reliable machine. I hate to think of the time we might have to replace it, it doubled in price from our cost in 2016.HINT to those complaining about not sealing properly when doing wet meat, such as the crab. We put the meat in the bag, then tightly close up the bag and put in the freezer till mostly frozen, then vacuum it. We do the same with ground beef when we seal individual burgers. We also buy a lot of cheese from an import store when back in our home town. I cut the cheese in portions and vacuum seal and keep in the refrigerator, NOT freezer. Keeps great until next trip back.We are just using the last lb of crab we sealed last October when we did 15 lbs, and it is just fine!
