My boyfriend is eating a lot of fruit lately and thought this was a great addition to our kitchen. I was right, it helped him prep a lot faster. Although he does think it takes off a bit too much apple from the core, it's okay he can nibble on that part. I'm on the shorter end, so I would need to push down harder with my body weigh. I like that the handles are lifted so your knuckles don't hit the board.
This fruit cutter works well and is so easy to use! Greatly reduces the time it takes to slice up some apples. Especially useful if you have a lot of fruit to cut; much better than doing it by hand with just a regular knife. It takes some oomph to get it to slice through, but not too much that it becomes difficult. If you are shorter and/or have high countertops, you might have a little trouble getting the right downward pressure.
This stainless-steel fruit slicer is everything you could ask for! It gives you eight perfect slices, perfectly removes the core, and provides strong handles so you can get a good, safe grip and apply sufficient pressure. And, the fact that it is stainless steel means that it cleans up easily and will not rust!!The first apple that was put through this slicer was a bit misshapen and was a bit "biased" to one side when the core was lined up with the corer on the slicer. So, it took more pressure than usual, but still sliced and cored the apple flawlessly. It works great on pears, too!So, if you're in the market for a quick and easy slicer, look no further!!
I never expected to get a less than stellar review for such an everyday product, but I also didn't expect to have any issues with it. At first glance, it's your typical looking apple corer. I used it on a somewhat larger Pink Lady apple. First of all, the handles being metal, are not terribly comfortable in your hands. The edge is a touch sharp. It also isn't great for grip as a larger handled plastic or silicon coated handle would be. I push downward...and nothing. The corer stuck within a couple centimeters. I am short, so I ended up getting up on a step stool and pushing downwards. I wish I could say I was exaggerating the experience, but I only managed to get the dang thing down another inch or so. I literally ended up having to bang the apple against the cutting board over and over to nudge the corer down centimeter by centimeter. At the last inch to the bottom it was stuck so bad, I pulled out a pairing knife and cut the last inch all around by hand. I then had to bang the core against the block to get it OUT of the corer. The apple ended up breaking and I had to poke it through.I think the main problem with this corer is that the opening is just not wide enough to accommodate a larger apple's core, hence it gets stuck. Also I felt the wedge openings were too big, as the apple wedges were almost two inches wide, and when I cut them by hand, my wedges are definitely thinner. Overall, it was just faster to cut an apple by hand. This in no way helped me to get the job done faster, especially since the corer managed to get stuck only an inch in. I couldn't pull it back out and could barely push it down to finish the job.
Easy to use and easy to clean it out. Cuts apples with a breeze.
I love this thing. Best fruit slicer I’ve used. love the rainbow colour, doesn’t seem to rub off at all. It will likely scratch so use a light hand when cleaning. I usually just give it a hard swish in hot soapy water after immediately after use. Very sharp. Fits most fruit, other than those massive apples that are bigger than my cats head. Takes a bit of force but it’s very sharp so it’s easy to use.Would absolutely buy again if I needed another.
My old one could cut larger apples than this one, but this will still cut large apples. Just not REALLY large apples. One thing I really like about this, is that the whole thing is metal. My old one was plastic and eventually the stress broke the plastic. I look forward to having this one for a long time.
