Not great for eggs, but could work well on firm fruit

I was excited to try out this slicer since I often slice boiled eggs to put on salads. The slicer looked like it would be a helpful tool, but it didn’t work well for me, especially on boiled eggs. When I tested it, it ended up smashing the egg rather than slicing it cleanly, and the egg got stuck in the grooves of the tool (see photo). I ended up using a butter knife to push into the grooves of the tool to get the egg out. So cleanup wasn’t as easy as it should have been. I could see this tool possibly working better on very firm fruits like strawberries, but for softer items like eggs, it just didn’t work the way I had expected and hoped. For me, this wasn’t as useful as I wanted it to be.

Works well with soft items

I have a toddler so I love anything that can help simplify and speed up a process. This food slicer I would say works well but only for certain foods. Softer foods, like strawberries or mushrooms, work well, but firmer items break it. Originally, I was trying to use it one handed (like scissors) but it would only cut halfway through, however it has handle at the front that you need to press to give you the leverage to cut all the way through. It is relatively easy to clean, sometimes food gets stuck on the side of the blades, and I've had a hard time getting it off. It is much easier if you rinse immediately after use. I tried using it on a cucumber (which it advertised it could be used for), after cutting it down to a size that fit within the slicer, it was very difficult to cut through and bent a blade. The blades flexed multiple times when trying the cucumber, with various positions or pressures. The first time the blade bent, I was able to bend it back afterward, but it cut into the bottom portion of the scissors, which resulted in a rough cut in the plastic that would block the blade every time after and left spots that would be hard to wash. We ended up using a knife to cut out the damaged plastic to allow it to work again. Because of multiple cuts into the bottom half of the scissors that would be difficult to clean appropriately, I ended up throwing it away. If you get this only use on soft foods and definitely not a cucumber.

Awesome Fruit Slicer

This fruit slicer comes in red or green and feels sturdy in your hands. The base is made of solid plastic, and the blades are stainless steel. It’s well built and doesn’t feel flimsy at all.I didn’t think I needed one of these, but now I use it every morning to make a fruit salad. It makes cutting so much faster and easier. Just make sure the blades are on the bottom when you press down. Overall, it’s a simple tool that saves me time every day.

Great Kitchen Gadget

This CEHNCEH fruit/egg slicer is awesome! It is very well made with strong plastic, and the stainless steel blades are sharp. It cuts kiwi perfectly, and it isn't hard on the hands, either. I have arthritis, and it didn't bother my hands to grip it at all. It comes in 3 colors, so it's nice that you have a selection to choose from. This is a great gadget and a good addition to any kitchen, especially if you need to cut up fruit/eggs in large quantities. It's also very easy to clean--just pop it in the dishwasher--it's perfectly safe!I'm very happy I chose this slicer and highly recommend it to anyone who spends a lot of time prepping food.
