This review is for Professional Fish Bone Pliers/Tweezers - Essential Chef Tools for Removing Pin Bones - Perfect for Precise Fish Deboning from the MYBMHTNB StoreAs a new user of fish bone pliers, I can't compare these to any other brand, but I can say that these worked very well for me. The narrow point and gripping surface of the pliers let me easily pull bones from the fish fillet before I cooked it, without tearing up the fish flesh. It is nice to serve and eat fish without worrying about the bones.
I really like the way these feel in your hand. I have weak hands and certain thing cause numbness and annoyance... these do not. We eat a LOT of fish here since my husband goes out deep sea fishing about 6-8 times a year and I process a lot of fish. These will be amazing. Of course my problem is he already took one to take with him on the boat for tying his lines and such. I recommend these all day long.
They don’t always pick the bones out and often break the bones instead of extracting them. The forcep kind might be a better application of this device. I guess I can still use them to remove hooks or tighten knots while I’m fishing.
This a nicely made set of bent-tip needle nose pliers. The tips are finely serrated and grip fish bones tightly. We’ve previously used a pair of pointed tweezers to debone fish fillets, but these grip the offending pin bones without having fingers fatigue after extended use.I have a concern about the ability to keep these clean in a kitchen environment. If you look at my pictures, there is a decent-sized gap between the metal handle and the plastic over molding. Anything that gets in there will be difficult (if not impossible) to remove. Since most fish is soft, that presents a potential cleanliness issue. The same is true around the pivot point, where there is also a significant gap.Bottom line…Keep them clean and these will be useful tool in the kitchen. I’ve knocked off a star because of that potential problem.
