Just meh for me
I use a lot of garlic and chop my own with a knife since my old garlic press became dull. I decided to try this and I just don't like it as well as my previous one.The fact that this press doesn't fully open causes two problems for me. Getting the garlic to come out for cooking and getting it to be cleaned properly. I needed a toothpick to do this.A big part of the reason for the toothpick was that the press doesn't completely open.The brush was missing from the box. Bummer.I think it costs too much and you can find better options for that price.It does feel sturdy and easy to press. I do think more garlic remains in this mince press than my previous one.The thing that I really thought was great though was that it had 2 ways to chop...mince or slice. What a great idea!I think I'll just use my knife instead though.

Press has a nice heft—makes pressing garlic easy
I'm happy with this garlic press. I ran through several sets of garlic presses in the span of a couple of years, and they were flimsy and would break within just a few uses. I haven't bought any more presses in several years because I was tired of wasting money when I could just run a knife through garlic cloves instead.I started thinking about trying garlic presses again lately, mainly to try to save time in the kitchen. I am glad I ordered this item. $18 seems like a fair price for a kitchen tool that will both "mince" and slice garlic. This product does save me time! Lately I've been buying pre-peeled garlic (again, to save time) so I don't know if this would work with unpeeled cloves.This press fits easily in my hand and I like the weight of it. It's moderately heavy and doesn't feel like the slicing blades are bending as you exude force while closing it. It seems to be very beneficial to clean immediately after using. If you do this, it cleans easily. Otherwise, the garlic has a tendency to stick and try onto the press, making cleaning more difficult. It does come with a small brush to facilitate cleaning, if necessary. I do find it necessary when using the slicing option, as garlic seems to stick to the blades more than the press side. But, in my opinion, it still cleans easily as long as you clean it immediately after use.It does seem to waste more garlic than expected after pressing, as seen in one of my photos. However, it's not inconvenient or wasteful enough for me to deduct a star from my review: I just rhrow it in to the pan with the rest of the garlic. :)
