Works great and is easy to use.

This vacuum sealer works great and is easy to use. It quickly sucks out the air in the bag and automatically seals it when done. The indicator lights tell you when the process is complete and you are ready to remove the bag. You get everything you need to get started including 5 bags, a roll for making your own and reusable ziplock bags. The price was reasonable and this is a good value for the first.

Great price, works great, be very careful with the accessory port

Overall, five stars — it’s not perfect but it’s real good and does the job — especially for the price!!!Pros: Great price ! First vacuum sealer I’ve ever had. Easy and intuitive to use, doesn’t require proprietary special bags (so far just about any vacuum sealer bags I’ve bought have worked), lightweight and small (see pic for comparison to a box of aluminum foil). I just stash it on a shelf and grab it when I need it — love that it is not taking up valuable real estate on the kitchen counter. I’ve used it a lot and it’s fussy and uncomplicated— at least the bag sealer part. Has an accessory port for canisters, etc and comes with tubing, and a plastic connector for the port (and a spare). I found a $12 generic mason jar sealing kit on Amazon and now I can use that port to vacuum seal mason jars — great for dry storage and meal prep (especially salads in the fridge — getting that air out makes the vegetables last longer, and I can make 4 or 5 at a time and then just grab a jar and go).The cons: the accessory port is kind of funky and fussy to connect to. Be gentle - the very first time I did it, the plastic connector broke off inside the vacuum sealer. And of course that happened just outside the Amazon return window. I had to disassemble the sealer to extract the broken piece, which was no small feat. And now I am down to one connector — and as far as I can see, there is nowhere to buy a replacement. Not sold on the Geryon website that I can find; I contacted them and am waiting to hear from them about whether I can buy a spare. I also haven’t found a universal or generic version online either; my mason jar kit came with three different types of connectors (meant for different kinds of sealers) and was described in at least one review as being more or less "universal" because of this -- but none of their connectors actually fit this Geryon sealer. Since removing the broken piece, the accessory port does again work now with the one connector piece I have left and I’m just doing my best to be very gentle and also not to lose that connector, since I don't have a backup.Overall tho -- still recommend -- love this sealer tho and I use it often. I think it's a great bargain and nice to have to prepare for the apocalypse or whatever.

Affordable, dependable, easy to use

I own this Geryon vacuum sealer for years and have given 3 as gifts! They work great. If the suction doesn’t work you only need to clean the foam strip let it dry and pop it back in. They are affordable and dependable. I buy in bulk and seal everything for the freezer from meats to nuts or flour. Customer service is outstanding if you do have an issue. They respond quickly.

Good value for the money!

It lasted about 2-2.5 years! It sealed quite a bit of food for me. Very easy to operate! Always turn the smooth side of bag up when sealing, not the textured side. Idk why, but bags seem to seal better that way! It had really good suction, though I never used the jar attachment. For wet things, set the sealer up on something a bit taller than your bags (I used a 2 foot section of a 2x4) so that gravity helps. Doesn't do well with wet things though. Use gentle seal, & put a paper towel around whatever is wet so it doesn't suck up fluids (or it won't seal & you have to clean your sealer!).In the end, the Teflon strip covering the hot sealing bar pulled away from it, and the heating element didn't heat evenly, so it wouldn't melt the plastic bag all the way across, to seal it. I wish they sold a replacement for that, coz I'd fix it!Give it a chance to cool down for a minute between bags; it's not a commercial unit meant for mass production! It will get very hot, and you risk burning it up/not functioning if you use it too hard.Slow & steady wins the race, here! There were one or two types of bags that it didn't like/wouldn't seal well, but I used a lot of different ones (on DEALS), so all in all it wasn't terribly picky! And it's a pretty tough little unit...it's design makes it a little clunky (two-piece, top/bottom), so it would get banged around a bit on itself & around it. If they used spring loaded hinges to hold it together it would help, but would also cost more...so it is what it is! But getting banged around never affected its ability to function.Because of the lack of hinges, you will have to use some dexterity to hold your bag & bring the top down to lock onto the edge at the same time. Practice a bit & you'll get the hang of it! I don't have long fingers, & I managed pretty well.A bit sad that it quit, but everything does, eventually. If I see a replacement melting element for it, I'll fix it! :)

Good customer service

I would like to point out that the machine is good, compact, easy to use, and the customer service team responds very well. I have been having some trouble with the canister function, and they reply to my emails in a timely manner. First they gave instructions to trouble-shoot, then later stated they will send a replacement. The regular vacuum function (not using the hose/canister) was working well so I am guessing it might be a port problem. The machine is very quiet.
