A kitchen ace!
I _love_ this little thing! It saves me from ever having to handle my rough doughs! The nylon core is surprisingly strong, but I do support it with a thumb at the base of the bowl as required. All I do is cut down from straight above into the poolish all around the edge for 2 full rounds, then into the middle, and finally curl in the edges until there’s no dry patches of flour left. I wash then use my clean wet finger to wipe off the bowl of the spoonula, then wipe it on paper towel with a spot of soap that I then rub off any residual with. That’s it! No muss, no fuss! Pretty much same goes for after its bulk ferment. I refrigerate my dough on the 2nd day so that I can bake it off straight out of the glass proofing container (I don’t bother to stretch-and-fold or shape, the result is perfectly fine for me), and again just 1 wet, clean finger is all I need to deal with the dough, no sticky mess! It’s balanced so the handle won’t flop it out of a bowl but only barely so you do need to place and move it around carefully if ingredients aren’t holding it down. The shape is incredibly comfortable to hold while giving excellent leverage, and I’m glad I don’t have to worry about squishing the silicone part on the end that has the hook loop. The spoonula bowl has the perfect amalgamation of strength and flexibility in every facet: extremely flexible tip, scrapeable sides, very bendable middle, very strong and stiff core that still has a bit of give. This thing is a _dream_, I love it so, so so so much! It’s the perfect size for small personal batches, whereas their full-size one (which I also have) is really quite sizeable meant to handle even very large batches. If you’re just a small-scale home cook like me, this mini is your secret MVP that, for me at least, up-stages its big brother! A must-have, in my book!
