Best of both worlds
There are two basic kinds of fat separators — the side-pour type and the bottom-drain type. The bottom-drain models are by far the better of the two, in terms of how efficiently and effortlessly they remove fat from hot liquid. In the aspect of service life... well, they're all (until now) made of plastic that does not stand up to repeated exposure to temperature shock. So they only last through a few uses before the bowls crack and start leaking, or they shatter. After going through 3 of those, all from different sellers, the service life was a total deal breaker for me.On the other hand, many of the side-pour models are made of borosilicate glass, which has very good resistance to temperature shock. But the side-pour design doesn't work very well.So FINALLY, someone got the brilliant idea to make a bottom-drain model out of glass. What a concept!!! This is the only bottom-drain model (that I have found) that's made of glass. After all the other fat separators I've been through, it was a welcome find.I've only used it once so far, and that went well. Not sure exactly what kind of glass this is made of, but it withstood exposure to very hot liquid without cracking... so far... could be borosilicate glass, and if so, I'm confident this product will far outlast all those junky plastic ones. But we'll see... for now, I'm rating this 5 stars. The design is not quite perfect in every way, but the flaws are trivial compared to the problems I experienced with all the others. In my opinion, this is the best fat separator you can get in today's marketplace.

Don’t buy another cheap plastic one - get this one instead
After buying two of the plastic ones and having them break I needed something better. This is something better! It works flawlessly and is easy to clean. It handles warm liquids without issue.

Probably The Last Fat Separator You’ll Ever Ne
This Glass Fat Separator is pretty darn impressive! I have went through three or four of the plastic ones in my lifetime because of adding the hot grease to the plastic components they eventually start to leak, finally someone came up with the genius idea to use glass! This came very well packaged in extra padded foam to ensure safe arrival during transit.Only need to add a few pieces and take apart a few simple parts to clean.Complete thorough instruction sheet included, very easy to follow. This works similar to pancake mix pourer if you ever used one of them, only it strains out the big pieces that were left behind in your grease with the stainless steel strainer included.Easy to operate with a push of a plunger handle/button, and your grease will be separated and ready to reuse or discard. If you are a serious cook or chef this is a must have for the kitchen. Most of us have purchased these separators to least once, let it be this one & I’m confident that you will most likely never have to purchase another, since the glass is thick, heat resistant & extremely durable. The entire gadget is well constructed.Size capacity is large, holding 4 cups which is plenty big even for a Thanksgiving meal. All parts re made of silicone, glass & plastic…dishwasher safe.At the price of $33.38 with coupon (at time of posting this, 02/05/26), it may seem a bit pricey to most budget conscious consumers but the overall quality makes the investment worthwhile.Highly recommended to anyone. Would make a unique housewarming gift!

GThe closest thing to therapy your kitchen will give yourease Lightning
It separates fat from gravy like it separates hope from disappointment. Heat-resistant glass means it survives your hot mess of a life. Stainless steel strainer says, “No, really, think about your choices.” Bottom release spout: a tiny betrayal with every pour. Four cups of clarity, infinite existential dread. Turns your kitchen into a high-stakes chemistry lab where the only thing more slippery than the grease is my will to cook. Easy to use, well made and functions ok for the price.

Great gadget
This is a serious tool for the kitchen. I have used the bottom draining and spout type separators in the past. They've all worked just fine but none that I previously bought were constructed for a lifetime of daily use. And that's O.K. I never spent a lot of money on one. I usually used them a few times and replaced them. The spout types require a bottle brush for thorough cleaning. The bottom drain types often leak and have their own cleaning complications. The plastic composition of both types are prone to clouding/cracking after not so many uses. Possibly absorbing odors which might affect taste in the process. This instrument looks at home in a gourmet kitchen. It is built for daily use of high quality components. Glass is the key. No taste, no wear. It couldn't be easier to use and the silicone plunger is a game changer. I really like that a metal strainer basket is included to filter out "chunks" that might lodge in the drain bore. It has a large capacity. It comes with a silicone plug that MUST be inserted before the vessel is filled, otherwise all the contents will end up on your counter. Care should be taken when removing the plug immediately prior to dispensing the separated liquid. A small amount of liquid (presumed to be hot) will be trapped between the plug and the drain plunger which is attached to the lid. When you pull the plug, that small amount of hot liquid may surprise, if not burn you. This is a lot of money for a fat separator. It may be hard to justify for occasional use but could be a nice gift. I may try using it to dispense pancake batter. I'd like to know if replacement parts are available as the glass vessel is probably the most expensive component.

Grease stain
It has too many parts and is hard to clean. Grease liquid between glass and plastic part. I would return but missed return by date
