First French press, love it!
This is a simple to use and easy to clean French press coffee maker. I was not a French press coffee guy before acquiring this. It seemed to be too much hassle for too little reward. Who has time on a workday morning for all that? I made coffee in my drip coffee maker strong using pre-ground name brand coffee and it was ready when I woke up. How much better could a French press be?Let me tell you this press makes a much stronger, more flavorful cup of coffee! Totally worth it. I still use the pre-ground name brand coffee, and the same amount of coffee as in my drip. The cup I get is way stronger, has more flavor, and is just a richer tasting cup of coffee. For those who don’t know the trick is the water temp. Boil the water, pull it off the heat for 30 seconds, then pour over grounds and wait four minutes. Do Not Stir! Slowly push the plunger down to the bottom. Perfection. In reviewing this French press several things stand out. The first is that it is double walled glass, and the carafe is all glass. No metal or wood, no markings. It has a clean and simple look. The press mechanism works well and forms a tight seal against the carafe. No grounds escape into my cup and I pour every drop. Cleaning is simple if you use a mesh strainer and some water to get the grounds out to trash them. Some hot soapy water and six plunges gets it clean for the next day use. No fuss, no muss.I have used it every day for a week and only took the strainer apart today to do a full clean. No grounds caught in the strainer. Going to put the carafe and the strainers in the dishwasher for a full clean.
