I am absolutely thrilled with this pasta maker! As a home cook who loves fresh pasta but dreaded the manual rolling process, this machine has been a dream come true. NIce but slow
We had a fun pasta night with the kids using this pasta attachment. It was easy to use, the kids loved feeding the balls into the extruder and watching it get squeezed out. It took a very long time to do and we found that only really small balls of the dough worked well. The directions say "strawberry sized" balls, but they must be talking about little 1 inchers.This took so long even with the litle balls, it was about 25 minutes to get enough for 4 people and that didn't include mixing and cleanup. That's much too long for an average weeknight dinner. Cleanup itself is a whole other project that of course the kids didn't help with. Directions suggest letting the dough dry on the equipment but then you're flaking off a bunch of tiny bits from the extruder holes. I simply soaked all the pieces in hot soapy water then rinsed them clean. It's dishwasher safe.I'd say this needs a slightly drier dough. We had a sticky-ish dough and had to add a little more flour to really get it going. The pasta tasted great and was fun to make, but when I was a kid we had a rolling pasta extruder that you clamped to a table and hand-cranked. That was much faster at rolling out the pasta but didn't work for penne or macaroni, only the flat pastas.We really liked this as a family experience but with 2 working parents and school activities, it isn't often we have time for a big meal production like this.
