A well-designed yogurt stainer that can thicken all types of yogurt and drain other foods

I got this Greek yogurt strainer to thicken my coconut yogurt. There are some really nice things you can make with thicker yogurt (think cherry cheese pie!), but coconut yogurt only comes one way and it’s not very thick. So, this device allows me to control the texture and stay on my dairy-free diet. It’s also useful when I want a thicker consistency for dressings, dips, sauces and toppings. And, it’s great for draining berries.This strainer is simple and well designed, with a fine mesh that allows whey to drain while keeping the yogurt inside. The main container body is made from polypropylene (PP) plastic, which is a food-grade plastic that's dishwasher safe and commonly used in kitchen containers due to its durability and resistance to heat and chemicals. The fine mesh filter is constructed from 304 (food grade) stainless steel. The container feels sturdy, and the parts fit together properly. It’s easy to assemble, use, and clean after each use. Practical size and good strainer

To preface, I do wish this was entirely non-plastic materials, but it being mostly plastic makes it lightweight for storage and use.I make homemade yogurt in my pressure cooker and needed something to thicken up my batches. This is actually extremely convenient and forces me to make appropriate sized batches. I have also used it so far for super thick store bought Greek yogurt. This makes a spreadable yogurt which can be made savory for spreads on crackers or bagels or just for a thicker, “drier” option. We eat a lot of yogurt and having a strainer helps us get more variety in our yogurt consumption.Very easy to clean and conveniently sized. Takes up very little fridge space when in use. The mesh is quite fine. Best for smaller batches.
