LOVE this saucepan!
I've done a lot of research non-stick ceramic cookware. The rating and performance of the frying pan tested in American Test Kitchen led me to GreenPan Valencia Pro. Amazon offered a better deal than GreenPan's site during Black Friday. The stainless steel finish currently blends in with other stainless steel saucepans we've acquired ad-hoc. This is intended to be an 'everyday saucepan' for cooking oatmeal, browning butter, steaming broccoli, mixing and melting hot chocolate, and sauteeing garlic. It was weighted just right and heat distributes evenly without hotpots in the saucepan. The handle stays cool and grips comfortably, even when iifting it filled with food. The best feature is the effortless clean-up. Scrubbing and soaking food remnants cooked into stainless steel cookware is and takes extra time to clean. The ceramic surface in the saucepan removes the muscle work required to clean it thoroughly. It only takes a strong stream of hot water from the kitchen faucet to clean most of it - problemOverall, it's a beautiful pan built with a quality allowing it to be used daily for years before it needs to be replaced. It's a great investment, even if you don't purchase on sale!

Great pan/lid with no sticking of food and cleans easily!
I really like my GreenPan Valencia Pro Tri-Ply Stainless Steel pan/lid. I was given other pieces of this brand at Christmas and needed this size too. I love the fact that things do not stick to the pan and cleanup is so easy with just a little soap and water. I do not put them in the dishwasher because of the ease of cleaning. It takes a little getting used to not cooking things on high, but just heating the pan on medium has done a great job for everything I have made in the pot.

Nicely built pan, but read about Thermolon non-stick coating before purchasing
This GreenPan Valencia Pro 1.5 quart sauce pan with lid arrived well packaged along with a small "Care and Use" guide. It's 3-ply stainless steel clad construction gives it a weightiness that surpasses other sauce pans in my collection, so would be expected to provide more even heat distribution. I like the smooth stainless outer finish compared to other pans I've tried that have odd multi-composition exteriors. The riveted handle adds to the sturdiness, and it's V-shape cutout where it attaches to the pan has indeed helped it remained cool in my usage. The glass lid is also nice, allowing food to be viewed while cooking, to a degree. However, the lid lacks a vent hole, causing other reviewers of these sauce pans to comment that they've experience steam and water leakage around the edge of the lid. The pan itself, legitimately holds 1.5 quarts of water, as measured with a measuring cup. The outside of the pan strongly attracts a magnet, whereas neither the handle or lid do, so it should be ideally suited to an induction cooktop, although I do not own one.As with other pans with non-stick surfaces, the product page marketing doesn't quite match usage instructions:- Although it says it's dishwasher safe, the manual and the GreenPan website recommend hand cleaning with a soft sponge, because "ceramic non-stick coatings can break down in the dishwasher due to the high salt content, bleach and phosphates of some dishwashing detergents."- Although the marketing say it's safe to use up to 600°F, care instructions recommend turning down the heat to low or medium "to minimize carbonization of food and oils." Elsewhere is stated that "the patented Thermolon non-stick technology can withstand accidental overheating up to 450°C for short periods."- Although it says "you can use metal utensils on your cookware’s durable Thermolon ceramic non-stick coating" the use guide says to stick with softer tools, preferably silicone.- Also to help preserve the non-stick surface, its recommended use high smoke point oils, and not use oil sprays, butter, and unrefined oils like extra virgin olive oil which can smoke and burn when the pan is hot and therefore cause carbonization of the pan.Safety:If you're thinking of purchasing this or other GreenPan pans, you might want to research their Thermolon non-stick coating. It can be controversial depending on the reference. From what I've read GreenPan loses some credibility regarding the lack of transparency concerning Thermolon testing, compared to other such pans. Leafscore, for example dropped GreenPan from their recommendation list because of a lack of third party testing, exacerbated by their having stopped releasing any test reports since 2020. Perhaps that was due to a 2019 lawsuit, which claimed that Thermolon contains several toxins, including:- Silane – a colorless, flammable gas that is toxic to breathe in and known for irritating the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes- Aluminum oxide – exposure can lead to lung damage- Tetraethoxysilane– respiratory and skin irritation- Methyltrimethoxysilane – serious eye, skin, and respiratory irritation- Potassium titanate – harmful if inhaled; potential carcinogen. If you're wowed by the PFOA-free claim, you should know that ALL non-stick cookware produced in the United States has been free of PFOA since 2013, when Teflon stopped using them in its coating.I've used stainless steel saucepans my entire adult life, and have never found the need for one with a non-stick surface, as I occasionally might with a skillet or sauté pan. Still, I got this pan thinking that it might make for easier cleanup while cooking rice, despite never having a problem cooking rice in a stainless sauce pan.Although I like this pan's construction, I can't really give a recommendation one way or another after an afternoon of research. It wasn't until after reading about Thermolon, that I noticed the legalese included in the pan's "user manual" which shields GreenPan from lawsuits by their customers (see photo). Hmmm, I'll probably stick to my older sauce stainless pans.
