Quality for the Price. Still requires Correct Preheating Method. Better than Stainless?
I’m all about finding a nontoxic alternative to chemical coated nonstick pans. I got this set of 2 fry pans for about $50 during Prime Days.I am happy with the weight of the pans, I was worried they would be thin and light but they feel good in the hand and a good weight. The handle is very comfortable.I did the pre seasoning, which was simple overall. I used avocado oil. Oil doesn’t appear to smoothly cover the surface, but it’s fine, it does leave enough to season the pan.It takes higher heat to get up to temperature than my SS fry pan. It will take some experimenting to find the sweet spot for the perfect heat for this pan.It will basically be nonstick If the pan is preseasoned and preheated properly. If it’s not hot enough, food will stick.Have your food ready. In this case I was making scrambled eggs.Learn how to do the “mercury ball” water test to determine when the pan has reached the right temp for nonstick. The picture shows the water to have bubbles in it - it’s not up to temp yet. If the water (1/4 tsp) sizzles, bursts, scatters, boils off, the pan is not hot enough. The video shows the how the water basically is like a mercury ball floating around on the pan. The pan is now at the correct temp.Wipe out the water drop and add your oil, butter, tallow, lard. Only a little is needed about a 1/4- 1/2 tsp. Add food as soon as oil is heated. I used bacon fat. Oils/fat add flavor and healthy oils don’t need to be avoided. My scrambled eggs came out perfectly cooked and didn’t stick to the pan at all!All good! I anticipate these pans will sear a steak to perfection.I love that metal utensils can be used and there is no coating that can peel off.Realistically though, these are not nonstick as we tend think nonstick pans should be - super slick pans with the historically toxic chemical lab created coating. I personally don’t trust that the “safer” nonstick coating of today are completely safe. Just my opinion.Learn how to properly use them and they will be nonstick but not the super slick like modern nonstick pans.I don’t know if the pans will become more slick with more pre seasoning, like a cast iron pan. Time will tell.Overall, I don’t these will work for people who want to throw food in a cold pan with no oil/fat and expect it to slide around the pan like with the chemical nonstick pans. They will work for people who are willing to learn or already know about preheating pans.I’m on the fence if they will be a replacement for stainless steel. As mentioned before, the cooking diameter in the pan is surprisingly small compared to the outer diameter, but useable for how I use the pans. One thing that would really help would be for Guy Fieri’s website and the instructions is to have more info on preheating the pan to the correct temperature and long term maintenance- such as do these need to be seasoned again as time goes on?

Best browning pans I have ever owned!
I never write reviews, but feel that you have to know that these fry pans are the best pans I have ever owned. They cook beautifully...brown up foods wonderfully and they are no stick, safe and easy to clean. As with any pans you should preheat long enough (4-5 minutes) before adding fat and the pan will become non-stick and ready to go! Again, the best pans I have ever bought...and I have tried them all (and wasted a lot of money)!

Great - but confusing seasoning instructions
After 3 weeks using this cookware, I would definitely buy it again.= PROS and HINTS =- They are non-stick WITHOUT the need for seasoning (see CONS). Watch my video with the egg. The egg in the video was egg #2 after I had used a tiny (teaspoon at most) bit of butter on the pan for egg #1. The egg slides right off the pan.- Cleanup is easy. Just rinse with water. I use soap, of course, but water get all the food off. We've cooked some tough sauces, rice, etc and so far it all just rinses off. I do not put them in the dishwasher even though the instructions say you can.- I have followed other users' advice and pre-heated the pots/pans first using medium heat.- I have not yet tested the limits of heat - going only to a 6 of 10 on the burner setting, but heat distribution has been good.- Of course the primary reason I bought these was because of the non-stick properties without toxic coatings. And so far that promise has been fulfilled.= CONS =- The Flavortown website is abundantly clear - you do NOT need to season these pans to make them non-stick. Just a little oil or butter when using them and you are good to go. However, the box comes with with instructions that say you MUST season the pans prior to use. Confusing! I suggest you do NOT season them (see PROS).- The Flavortown website support is completely useless. They will not respond to you at all. I emailed them to ask about the confusion with the non-stick description vs instructions and never received a reply. So do not expect them to help at all.- The lids (intended for the pots) are not totally secure on the pans. But they do fit if you need to use them for the pans.- They do not stack well. Storage is a pain. Other sets nestle together nicely. These do not.- The 5 qt sautepan is too big for my needs. It is larger than my largest burner. I'm used to a 4 qt pan. But it still works well and if you need a 5 qt sautepan, then this isn't a problem at all.

Don’t hesitate to purchase!
I’ve been wanting to go clean for cooking. My cast iron are but very heavy if using anything more then tiny ones. These are super clean from chemicals which was my main goal. I’ve used them daily since they arrived and have found not one thing I could say I don’t like! Don’t hesitate on these.

Worth the investment
Light weight and just great to use. Although a heavier type dutch oven would cook my bread better, I am having trouble lifing such heavy items. I love that I can use metal utensils or whatever I want. They clean so easily.
