Works as it should.
This stuffer does exactly what it is supposed to do. Meat does not squeeze out the top when you are using it. It is easy to operate and cleans easily as well. The canister pops right out so it makes loading and cleaning a snap. The rubber "O" ring is a snug fit, so getting it back into place is a challenge (Not a bad trade-off for something that works so well). This unit is big and tall. Make sure to check out the measurements so you have enough clearance to crank it. I made about 20lbs. of sausage in about 15 minutes. Now that I am familiar with it I will probably get through the next batch even faster. Stuffing sausage with a meat grinder is a nightmare. This is a must-have for anyone who plans to make sausage each season.
This machine is awesome. Prior to buying this I would stuff the casings with the meat grinder attachments and found it to be very tedious. This machine blasted through 25lbs. in no time at all. You can fill the 11lb. capacity tube and have it cased in under 10 minutes. This machine is large, I overbought a bit, but after using it, it was decided that it was a great purchase. Super easy to clean as all parts that come in contact with meat can be removed and easily put back together. Customer service is also great. The handle snapped, but they are sending a new one right away.
Great sausage stuffer for the price. It does need clamped to the counter and does not come with clamps which was the reason for the 4 stars. Worked great; easy to load with the tilt out cylinder, and easy to clean.
I have a smaller one and got tired of reloading all the time. Got this one a week ago and stuffed 60lbs of sausage over the weekend and by far one of the best products I have ever purchased for the money. Loads easily and cranks with ease. My wife and I stuffed 60lbs in about a hour and for once a engineer that has used one of these units before designed this one lol. Awesome and you wont be disappointed.
Have yet to use it. Instructions are a joke on the English language and are essentially useless. If you cant figure out how to use this machine then you probably dont need to be around sharp instruments anyways. The set screw to hold the handle onto the drive gear head is too short and doesnt lock the handle in place. Ill replace with a better set screw. Quality is ok (welds are junky, machining is loose, interface of gears is sloppy) but I'll probably use the machine a few times during deer season and none the rest of the year so for the price it seemed like a good buy. The canister is stainless steel, but nothing else is. I probably wouldnt worry about running the canister or the plastic stuffer nozzles through the dishwasher but hand wash the painted mild steel frame and cast plunger head. Threaded rod and gears were excessively oiled and I wonder the type of oil used and its food safety.UpdateI went to use the stuffer for the first time and about halfway through the first tube/canister of meat I began to have issues. Long story short, the loose tolerances and sub par machining allowed the threaded guide rod to spin and consequently ground the threads on the rod, and essentially ruined the rod. I made some quick home repairs to limp through the rest of the first batch, and the second and third batches but had contacted hakka brothers to seek a replacement. Hakka was prompt In responding and has been very helpful in getting one of their newer models shipped to me for free. I have yet to receive this replacement unit yet but I hope that it is better built than the one I have now. I do have to be honest and say that there really are some great qualities to this unit; the nut which holds the stuffing tube to the canister is a nicely machined and finished SOLID chunk of stainless which has been run through the dishwasher a few times now with no evidence or rust (quality stainless), the canister too is a nice piece of stainless, and has good welds and machining to it too.Admittedly while there are some high quality aspects to this unit it is apparent it is not a big priced professional unit, but like I said originally, for my purposes of making a hundred or so lbs of sausages a year it is just fine. As long as the new replacement unit shows up, and is an improvement or complete alleviation of the issues which plagued this model, I will be a very happy customer. A+ for customer support, C for product quality.UpdateHakka had informed me that they would be sending me the "new" model of their stuffer as a replacement however what arrived was the same exact model as the one which failed on me during the first use. I had high hopes for this replacement unit but shouldn't have. 2/3 of the way through the first canister of sausage the gears began to lose mesh, and it struggled to finish one tube of sausage. After retracting the plunger, washing the unit, and putting it back together, I went to lower the plunger into the unit, and something in the gear box broke, and now the plunger shaft, and plunger head just rotates but will not go up or down. Essentially the machine is now worthless after only one use!!I contacted hakka to inform them of this and they tell me that the unit I bought was past their 30 day warranty, and basically "tough luck" on the replacement unit being a piece of junk.I'm honestly surprised that this unit has such high reviews as both of the units I received were garbage, useful for only one use. Hakka had originally held up their obligation as a manufacturer but now wants to back out when their sub par design continues to fail. If I could give this unit no stars I would. While it has some redeeming qualities (all metal construction, stainless parts, etc) the fact that they don't work makes them utterly worthless, and this wasn't exactly the cheapest stuffer out there.I hope hakka reads this review, and decided to stand behind their products and send me the new model, or a total refund as I have requested, but I'm not holding my breath. See my video showing the defunct replacement
I previously used the sausage attachment for the Kitchen-aid mixer and that was a lot of work. I decided to purchase this sausage stuffer and realize I should've purchased it a long time ago. It's very simple to use and comes with everything you need to start making sausages.
