Ever since I got my first set of reusable straws I won’t ever go back to the disposable ones. I love how these clean up and there is not aftertaste. The drinks taste like they’re supposed to. They are cute and very good glass quality. At first I was afraid of them breaking easily, but they do not.

I tried stainless steel straws and other glass straws, however steel straws were too small to drink smoothies or thick milk shakes and the glass ones kept breaking.These actually surprised me, I loved the look of them, no issues with any type of drinks and after they went through the dishwasher, while putting them away, one slipped out of hand fell to the floor, bounced, then slid all the way to the wall completely intact. Wow! I was impressed.I have already gotten the 8" straws, I will be getting more for holiday gifts this year.A friend of mine from Germany assisted me in translating the packaging cover - I have attached a picture with the translation. Well-made glass straws
I’ve been a glass straw person for many, many years now and upon seeing these Halm glass straws in black and a 6-inch length, I had to have them! They’re well-made with the Halm insignia stamped on each straw. I absolutely love the short 6-inch length, they’re perfect for small glasses/tumblers. The black looks really chic to me, as all of my other glass straws are clear glass. As well, these are a recycled glass whereas all of my others are borosilicate glass – I’ll be interested to see how these hold up compared to my borosilicate straws, if there’s any notable difference over time.They came packaged in a Halm box with German text, so I’ve no idea what the box reads. And as is customary with glass straws, there was also a cleaning brush included in the box – the bristles are especially stiff which seems great for cleaning, my other brushes are a much softer bristle. These are well worth the cost in my view, they look great/elevated and they’re reusable reducing waste and the global footprint and should last for many years to come. Definitely recommended!

Great Concept, But The Black Coating is a Dealbreaker
I really wanted to love these straws — the glass feels sturdy, they clean up well, and I appreciate the company’s focus on sustainability. Unfortunately, the black “glass” isn’t actually black glass at all — it’s a surface coating.Out of curiosity (and for a project that involved light heat), I applied a bit of heat to one of them and the coating started to fume and peel away, leaving clear glass underneath. The smell was not pleasant, and it raises some serious questions about what the coating is actually made of and whether it’s truly food-safe at higher temps.For a product that advertises being heat-resistant up to 392°F and dishwasher/microwave safe, this was a surprise — and a bit of a letdown. If you only ever use these for cold drinks, you may never notice. But if you plan on using them with hot beverages or cocktails, just be aware the black finish does not seem as inert as you’d expect.I’ll update this review if I hear back from the company about what the coating is and whether it’s independently tested for safety under heat.

These are fantastic reusable straws. I like the dark color but it does make it harder to see if there’s anything left in them. They glass is thick so it feels sturdy and like it will last for a while. The packaging is completely in German though so whip out your google translate if you want to know what it says.

Perfect for lowball glasses/tumblers
I've been a glass straw fan for about a decade now, and will never go back to plastic if I can avoid it. I'll use stainless steel straws if glass ones aren't available, but I'll choose glass almost every time otherwise. The thing I seem to run into a lot is that most of the straws I find are too long. Or at least they're longer than I want them to be for the glasses I'm using.
