We cruise, a lot, and HATE paper straws, so this became our new way of life for traveling. These are glass, but super durable - I kept a couple in my crossbody bag, along with the cleaning straw, whenever we ordered a drink, use the straw, then clean it when we got back to our room (water in between - stay hydrated!). They do make a lot of noise, so I actually wrap them in a paper towel when in my bag. They are also pretty thick - not the glass, I mean the circumference - we were able to do the real thick milk shake at the ice cream place on a NCL ship; not quite boba, but milkshake certified.

I have used glass straws from the very beginning when they were first introduced. I am sure all those ocean beings having to share their home with all those nasty plastic straws thanks all of us who crossed over. Glass straws are dishwasher safe and come with a cleaning brush. They are neutral taste-wise. These Halm Black Glass Straws are no exception. They arrive well packed with the usual brush. The difference apparently is that the German company developed a thicker glass for these straws which is recyclable.They are glass so they still will still break but not as readily but remember the glass is recyclable. And wowza what about the sexy black, huh? Perfect for game days or Halloween or just day-to-day smoothie drinking. Do not forget that at 8" these are the perfect size for highball glasses. Imagine that red Bloody Mary with a black straw!! Being produced and packaged in German is a big asset in my opiinion. I love these straws and will purchase more in the future. Highly recommended.

Every morning I make myself an iced coffee or latte and every morning I use a new plastic straw. Solid straws
These glass straws are dishwasher safe and come with a small brush to help scrub the inside of the straws if needed. After running the set through the dishwasher I tossed them in a drawer and tested with one of my Tom Collins glasses. As you can see it fit fine, and the straws are large enough they'd work well with smoothies, too. Being glass, I did notice condensation appeared after a few minutes on the straw, but it didn't bother me. I didn't try a drop test, but although glass they do appear thick enough I would expect them not to be too fragile unless they get abused significantly. If one does end up chipping I suppose it could be filed down a bit and polished to prevent a sharp or abrupt edge.

Includes Cleaning BrushI wanted be a part of the environmental disposable plastic initiative to clean up the planet & their harm on sea & land animals. I tried stainless steel straws and other glass straws, however steel straws were too small to drink smoothies or thick milk shakes and the glass ones kept breaking.These actually surprised me, I loved the look of them, no issues with any type of drinks and after they went through the dishwasher, while putting them away, one slipped out of hand fell to the floor, bounced, then slid all the way to the wall completely intact. Wow!
