Nice little fryer.
Finally got around to using this unit a few times. Works very well. Like the size of it, especially for storage. Easy to use, good unit.

Finally got around to using this unit a few times. Works very well. Like the size of it, especially for storage. Easy to use, good unit.
Bought this fryer in August and have used it multiple times. French Fries and chicken wings mostly. I use it outside just not in the rain. It's very easy to use and sturdy. It does use a lot of power so if you do use it outside get a proper extension cord if needed. The basket size is great for one or two people and more with good planning. I would recommend this fryer and am thinking of buying another for my camping spot.
Wife loves it. Simple and easy to use.
This cool-touch electric deep fryer is great for home use. The exterior stays cool, making it much safer to handle during cooking. It heats up quickly, fries evenly, and is easy to clean. The size is perfect for small batches—ideal for fries, chicken, or snacks. A solid choice for anyone looking for a safe, reliable deep fryer!
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. This is the second Hamilton Beach fryer we've had. The last one was a Fry Daddy, much larger. We had that fryer for 17 yrs, needless to say it's a good one. This one is much smaller, but it's all we need to fry taco shells in. We do fries and chicken in the air fryer now, but you could fry 2 pieces of chicken at a time in this one. I like that it's cool to the touch, as it does not get hot on the outside. The parts come out to go in the dishwasher.
Works well. Hold heat good. Hold good amounts. The size is what I wanted.
I've had one of their older models which worked well for many years. I've also had other HB products which I liked. This is the reason I purchased this item. This and because I needed a 2nd small fryer to fry Seasoned Products. My large, main fryer is only used to make potato fries or chips. The 2nd fryer is to be used to make Breaded items such as seasoned breaded shrimp, Okra, or Zucchini. Please know that you NEVER fry Seasoned and/or Breaded items in the same oil you use for your potato fries.. unless you want them to taste like the Seasoned food. In other words, the neutral flavor of your oil will pick up the seasonings flavor and impart it to the fried potatoes. Here are the Pro's and Con's of this fryer.Pro's:1) The design is very nice.2) The plastic outer housing does keep it cool to the touch.3) Easy to clean.4) Small enough to easily put away in a cabinet or utility closet.5) The perfect size for frying small batches of Tempera or Seasoned/Breaded foods like shrimp or vegetables.Con's:1) It is made in China. Thus at the outset I was concerned about the quality. I was proven correct because the little pot which holds the oil has very sharp edges. You'll cut your fingers removing it if you are not careful.2) It never heated up above 343f. I used several calibrated instant read thermometers and the "Ready Light" would come on at about 338F and I'd wait 5 minutes or more and the MAXIMUM temperature was always 343F. It NEVER rose to the 375F as indicated in their manual and as printed on their dial.3) I used to own a Snack Food Manufacturing company back in the 80's (which I can prove and DID prove to HB when I complained directly to them). At 343f whatever you are frying will take much longer and the food will ABSORB a lot of oil! For example, you want to fry foods between 350f and 375f depending on whether it is a breaded item or fresh or frozen potato fries. I was using NEW, CLEAN Peanut Oil which I ordered here on Amazon. Peanut oil has a "smoke point" (where oil starts to burn) at 450f. Way above the 350-375f needed for fried foods. I was frying Seasoned Shrimp and Seasoned Zucchini rounds. At 343f they took about 7 minutes to fry (instead of the normal 3 minutes) and absorbed so much oil they were soggy!4) The unit has a "RESET" button on the back of the fryer (as shown in their "Use and Care" guide). After letting the oil cool down I pressed the RESET button then brought the temperature back up. Again, it never got higher than 343f even after letting it set with the lid on for 45 minutes. I checked the temperature every 10 to 15 minutes with various calibrated thermometers.5) Amazon recommended I contact Hamilton Beach via a link provided which I did. Their website had a FORM which one has to fill out with Name, Address, etc., then describe the problem. On their FORM I told them about the temperature problem of 343f and how I had hit the RESET button to no avail. They did reply quickly but their representative wanted me to give them the SERES Number on the bottom of the fryer. This question was also asked via their Form. On their Form I notified them there was NO SERIES number. The Sticker on the bottom only said SERIES and was BLANK. However, the HB Representative kept asking me for this number and I did give him the model information.6) In all correspondence with HB the Representative kept asking me to give them the SERIES NUMBER (there was none) and to make a Photograph of the bottom of the unit. He also wanted me to press the RESET BUTTON which within their Form and in my email to them I told them I had already done!In conclusion, over all I liked the fryer except the sharp edges of the frying pot which I could have taken a rasp or sandpaper and smoothed out. But honestly, this shows the Quality Control of their Chinese manufacturer is sloppy. Also, because the temperature of this fryer never got above 343f it is not a fryer. It is more of a SIMMERER! It never hit the MAXIMUM temperature of 375f. Again, this proves the QC of the Chinese manufacturer is sloppy. Lastly, because Hamilton Beach kept asking me for the SERIES NUMBER and to press the RESET BUTTON - BOTH which I told them on their website FORM and again in email that I had done.. and because they wanted me to take photos (and who knows what other hoops to jump through), I decided to return it to Amazon. Amazon refunded my money (Thank You Amazon) which I have used to purchase a fryer from another supplier here on Amazon.
