Pretty good for a modern toaster oven.

I'll have to grudgingly say this is a pretty good toaster oven. I say "grudgingly" because this toaster oven, like every other toaster oven I've seen on the market today, falls short in its primary function - making toast. There's a reason these appliances are not called "oven-toasters." We use ours every day to make toast, and once in a while we use it as an oven. Old fashioned toasters had a dial where you set your desired level of "brownness" once, and from then on you just dropped in the bread, pushed down the slider, and it made toast. Consistent, evenly toasted bread, day after day. Sunbeam even made a wonderful toaster where you didn't even have to push a slider. Drop in the bread, it descended into the toaster, and then majestically rose again when it was toasted. Now my family likes to toast bread, bagels, English Muffins, and other baked items that don't fit in an old fashioned toaster. Our first toaster oven had a brownness knob and a start button so you could make toast just as easily as with a conventional toaster. It had separate knobs for the oven controls. That was a great toaster oven. Then manufacturers started integrating the controls, and suddenly you had two or three knobs that had to be turned to the correct position just to make a slice of toast. Put your bread in, turn on the toaster oven, fry an egg, and discover you just had warm bread because someone left the knobs set to "bake" instead of to "toast."This toaster has multiple knobs that have to be twiddled to the correct position to make toast, but as long as you do that it does a good job making toast. Unlike other users, I don't have any trouble turning the knob to set the desired degree of brownness. It toasts evenly, and I can get consistent results with it. On the rare times when we've used this as an oven, it did a good job of that, too. You just have to remember to turn the knobs back to "toast" when you're finished. We haven't tried the air fryer. It seems to me that frying in an open mesh basket would spatter grease everywhere, but I haven't tried it so you'll have to look at other reviews to see how good that feature is.

Easy, convenient, and cooks well

I have been thinking about getting a toaster oven for a long time but was very undecided. It’s just two of us and heating up the entire gas stove for two baked potatoes or a few hot dogs seemed like such a waste of gas. I looked at several brands and read reviews. I didn’t want to spend between 100 and 200 dollars for cooking just a few items so I went with the basic, although this has the air fry feature which I haven’t used yet. We received it the day before yesterday and, so far, we are satisfied with what we have tried. We broiled hot dogs, baked two huge baking potatoes, and made canned biscuits for breakfast. The potatoes turned out perfectly, although at 450 degrees they took about 15 minutes longer than when I bake them at 500 in the oven. Not an issue as far as we’re concerned. This oven is quite small so I will still use my stove broiler or oven for fish, steak, or other dishes. But for what we were looking for, it’s perfect.

You're definitely going to burn yourself

Works really well but God help you if you touch the outside while its on! You could easily cook food ON this thing, it gets as hot as the inside does! Just a slight tough and I've got a burn blister twice already and I've only had it 2 weeks. My family uses these often so it's easy to forget its on and brush against it. Honestly I'm surprised this is even allowed be sold, it's a crazy fire hazard. Does work really well though lol

Great Machine at a Great Price

First off, I bought the open box version, in perfect condition with everything, for $38. I feel like I got a great bargain. Having had generations of toaster ovens at both our houses over the last twenty plus years, this is absolutely and far and away the best toast maker. It comes nearest to making perfect toast on both sides. The air fryer function is good but not as good as our dedicated air fryer. Nonetheless, the basket actually holds significantly more than our small air fryer, which we like as we often make large batches of homefries/roasted potatoes, brussel sprouts and wings. It took as a while to decide to actually follow the directions rather than our intuition and put the drip pan under the rack rather than putting the fryer basket directly into the pan. Does a much better job air frying this way. The only negative after a month of use: The drip pan is a bit hard to scrub. Though we haven't tried it yet, we like that it has room for a medium size pizza. This looks and feels like a quality product. It is modest sized and doesn't overwhelm our counters. We highly recommend this for smaller kitchens and smaller households.
