A good solution for keeping food fresh
I really like this vacuum sealer. A Vacuum Sealer With Commitment Issues
I bought the Billty Handheld Vacuum Sealer 3rd Generation Vacuum Sealer for Food with 30 Sous Vide Bags, and it arrived the very next day. As someone who eats salads like it’s a full-time job, I was thrilled. My lettuce usually wilts faster than my enthusiasm for cleaning my apartment, so I had high hopes. The compactness was the first win—it’s small enough to disappear into a drawer, which is perfect because my kitchen storage is already a game of Tetris. The excitement dipped a bit when I saw the USB charging cable, which is so short it feels like Billty is daring you to charge it. Thankfully, I had a USB wall plug, or else I’d still be crouched on the floor like a misplaced house elf. Once plugged in, it charged in about 12 hours, which apparently counts as speedy in vacuum sealer land.When it was finally ready, I chopped some lettuce, filled two large sous vide bags, and got to sealing. The first bag sealed beautifully—I felt like a vacuum‑sealing champion. Then came the second bag, which apparently had no interest in participating. I followed the instructions exactly, tried twice, and still couldn’t get it to seal. Instead, the vacuum sealer started giving off a burnt‑rubber smell, and then smoke. Not exactly the “freshness” I was going for.That’s why I’m giving this product two stars. One star for being compact, one star for decent battery life, and the rest goes downhill from there. It took several minutes of my life I’ll never get back trying to seal that second bag before the motor gave up and started smoking. As for the ease of cleaning, I can’t comment yet. I didn’t get far enough to find out. I’m still busy airing out my kitchen.If you only ever need to seal one bag of lettuce, this might be your perfect match. If you need to seal two, well… may the odds be in your favor. Now value for money, I thought I was getting a bargain. It turns out I was also getting a smoke machine.Update 1/24/2026:This handheld vacuum sealer didn’t just stop working after one full charge — it also refused to turn off. I pushed the power button, begged, pleaded… and it kept running for 12 straight hours like it was trying to escape its responsibilities.Not even a week in, and it already gave up on sealing but somehow found the stamina of a marathon runner when it came to draining its own battery.At this point, it’s not a vacuum sealer — it’s a tiny, chaotic appliance with a mind of its own.So yes, I’m giving this piece of crap one star. And honestly, that star is for surviving the shipping process.

I was gifted a bulky countertop vacuum sealer and I just could not figure out how to size the "bags" correctly and ended up wasting more of the plastic roll than I used for sealing the food.*Jump ahead to now*I was searching for a more manageable vacuum sealer and I found this cute little handheld vacuum sealer kit (and for such a great price). I read through all the reviews to see if this was too good to be true. Reviews were mixed. Most negative reviews note issues I've listed below along with the remedies I found.• Lining up the vacuum sealer with the venting hole.•This can take a few tries. Make sure the vent hole/circle is completely covered by the vacuum sealer opening. There is a rubber lip to create a tight seal. You sometimes have to play around with the handheld vacuum sealer to find the right pressure for a tight seal too.• Vent value on bag doesn't seal tightly/remain sealed.• There are two different options I found to remedy this issue. 1. Immediately after removing the vacuum sealer from the bag, firmly press down on the vent hole/circle for a few seconds. This, most times, should stick the vent holes closed again. Or, 2. Place a piece of cellophane tape over the vent hole immediately after removing the vacuum sealer. Again, press firmly for a few seconds. Number two isn't the best option if you plan to reuse the bag. The tape is a little tricky to remove.• Another key element to ensure you get a nice seal is to use the white clip that comes with the kit to close the bags. You may think your fingers alone are strong enough to seal the zip closure securely but just use the white clip. There are slight ridges inside the clip which fit snuggly around the zip closure. While zip closing with the clip squeeze firmly but not too hard. You'll feel a clicking if there are any areas not fully sealed.• The time it takes to start/finish sealing depends upon what you're sealing and what size bag you use. Try to manually press out as much air as you can before completely closing the bag/beginning to vacuum seal.Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase.
