I am using this grinder not as intended... I have filled it with a mix of Italian spices, and the grinder has worked wonders. The volume of ground spice is amazing; I grind them into the catch lid and then sprinkle on what I need. It is easy to fill, easy to adjust, easy to use and works great. The grinder has a nice weight to it. I expect to outlast me...
I'm thrilled with this pepper grinder. The output is much more than my wooden grinder. I use it when I need large amounts of pepper. It's built like a tank and is very heavy. I grind it into a small jar that's just bigger than the grinder in circumference and use the small glass jar to house any extra ground pepper.When is new, it seems to grind very little out of the box. I had to adjust it many turns before the output increased, and it's still very fine.
This is a great pepper grinder. I searched and read a lot of reviews and went with this. Got it for my husband for a Christmas gift while it was on sale. It is pricey, but very impressive - heavy and you can easily change the grind from fine to course. It has many settings. I bought the one with the adjustment ring on the outside and it was worth it!Liked it so much I bought one for my son for his birthday.
First of all, I paid FULL PRICE for this grinder; it wasn’t a “freebie” like most of the reviews here. That said, I think it’s an excellent grinder and worth the high price that I paid. It puts out a tremendous amount of pepper with just a few turns. It is beautifully made and looks like a work of art! I like that it has a cup that fits on the bottom. If I need to measure a precise amount of pepper for a recipe, I grind the pepper with the cup on, then remove it and scoop out the pepper with a measuring spoon.The one flaw that I don’t like is that the top cap, that you turn to grind, is held in place by friction. The grinder is very heavy, almost 20 ounces, and if you pick it up holding just the top cap, the grinder drops to the table, tips over and the peppercorns scatter everywhere. I try to remember not to lift it by the top, but sometimes in a hurry, it’s easy to forget. I wish it had a design where the top would click and lock into place, but still be removable with a tug. That would make it perfect!
Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Hell yes. If you like fresh ground pepper on your steaks like I do, buy this grinder and thank me later. I absolutely love turning the wheel and getting that high volume grind, and the adjustable grain setting just makes this a world-beater. My only regret is not having found this sooner!
This is a knockoff of a mancannon and Im pleased with how well it works with one exception, the top has way too smooth a finish making it difficult to turn. If it had more aggressive knurling it would be 5 stars. you might not think it will make that much difference in using it, but it does it goes from, this is great to PITA pretty quick.Bottom line would I buy it again... no.
This is the REAL deal. Grinds pepper like a machine. Once you use it you'll understand you got your money's worth. It grinds out pepper like a snowstorm!
