Deez Nuts 🌰
My neighborhood is surrounded by black walnut trees, so I decided to try my hand at harvesting some this past fall. FYI, Black walnuts are not for the faint of heart, I will not be attempting that again 🫠 but I got two of these nut crackers to spread out the work (and make sure my husband couldn’t wear himself out too early 😅).They’ve already taken a serious beating in just the first 20 lbs of walnuts, and if they can handle black walnuts, they’ll easily handle just about any nut you want to crack. These things are absolute workhorses.Fair warning: there is some flying shell debris. I recommend using a plastic/Tupperware container over the unit while cracking to keep the shrapnel contained. Once I did that, it was smooth sailing.Sturdy, effective, and built to take abuse. Highly recommend if you’re dealing with tough nuts to crack.

Worked on my macadamia nuts
There is a huge macadamia nut tree in our neighborhood, but no one is able to eat the nuts because they are nearly impossible to crack open. In fact, the bag next to my sofa is a year old because I got a different brand of nut opener that I felt sure would work, but it didn't. So the nuts sat. Then, I got this one, and it works!I didn't have high hopes for it because the wooden catch box is made of very light wood, and when I pulled that big handle with the red ball on it, the crushing jaws barely moved. I really thought I'd gotten a broken one, but I was still willing to give it a try, and when I did, everything was made clear. You need to push the nut to the bottom of the cradle of the jaws. Doing that, pushes the jaws open so that when you pull on that handle, it actually crushes. It does take some decent force. Think of pounding on a stapler to get it through a thick stack of papers, and that's about the force you need, and when the nut cracks, it cracks suddenly. In fact, I would recommend a pair of safety glasses when using this because the force is so much. I also haven't used it enough to finesse a whole nut meat out of it yet, but it's a goal of mine to open one of these mac nuts without breaking the meat into several pieces. Most times, the nut will come out in two or three pieces for me.There are definitely a few peculiarities with this cracker, but the mere fact that it can handle my mac nuts? That gets this five stars.

Missing pieces
I remember my entire family having to take turns shelling pecans with a nutcracker when I was a kid. I’m glad I found this and glad I have one of my own now. However, by far, the most difficult part of shelling nuts is picking them out of the shell once they’re cracked. As a kid, my fingers would be cut up and dirty for days after using my hands to pry the meat out. I was excited to get the pics in this kit and be able to avoid that by my box was missing the pics and the brush. It was a completely sealed box but was still missing these items. Kinda bummed out about that.

Hickory Nuts are no match for this thing!
This is a seriously heavy-duty nutcracker! I have purchased other nutcrackers - even ones that claim to be "heavy duty", but I had the hardest time cracking the Hickory nuts from the Hickory Tree in my back yard. But this thing? This tool CRUSHES them with barely any effort. I LOVE that it has this really nice-sized high-edged tray to catch all the pieces. I was seriously discouraged. I thought I had tried all the tools to crack my Hickory Nuts, and I had just about given up. I was skeptical but delighted to try one more. Now, I will easily be able to use that Hickory Tree for the amazing food resource that it is. The additional tools that came with the nutcracker are very helpful as well. Overall, this is an excellent value, and I am ecstatic to have it.

Great nutcracker, well made, sturdy, good quality construction!
I ran across this Nutcracker set while surfing and, found it interesting because I had not seen a nutcracker built like this before. The wooden box that houses the nutcracker mechanism is built well and is sturdy. The Nutcracker mechanism is securely fastened to the wooded box making the unit heavy and sturdy. The nutcracker mechanism has an adjustable black knob for expanding or tightening the jaws for cracking smaller or large nuts. The nutcracker mechanism is sturdy, well made, good quality construction. This nutcracker set comes with four picks and a brush for cleaning the shell debris from the nutcracker mechanism. This nutcracker has a leaver handle with a red ball that you press down on when cracking the nuts. This nutcracker makes it easy to crack nuts open. This is because you control the pressure so, if you press down two much the nuts may be broken up. However, if you press down softly, chances are you will have mostly hole nuts or bigger pieces. The good thing about this nutcracker is that the shells will stay in the wooden box until you clean it out. Unlike hand held nutcrackers, where the shell goes all over. So, you might want to pull out or separate the nuts from the shell periodically. This Nutcracker set offered by Qeykizy has a rustic and nostalgic look to it, which I find appealing.
