Chef Jean Pierre suggests using a potato ricer for making mashed potatoes (he then presses them through a strainer to ensure absolute smoothness, yeah, no time for that.) We make a lot of potatoes for Thanksgiving and this worked a charm for russets and sweet potatoes. Seriously, one squeeze and done. No lumps. Its big so I don't keep it in the kitchen drawer with most of my hand-held kitchen gadgets. I'm glad I have it. It feels solid, like it will last a while and smooth potatoes are as easy as can be.

I NEVER believed this gadget could make mashed potatoes that tasted the same as the ones I made for years made with an electric mixer. I love this ricer! It allows me to press large potatoes at once, it's very well made. Heavy duty kitchen item. It is some what a pain to clean if you do not rinse or right away, so I highly recommend a thorough rinse as soon as you are done. This is by far my favorite kitchen item currently. It's just large enough to get the job done, without being too bulky. It's easy to use for me little hands, I don't feel like I need to all my husband lol and it's easy to use as well.
